don't know why I'm sharing.. need a vent

Most of you know, my kids live with their Dad, very far away from me. But I speak to them by phone every Sunday. They tell me most EVERYTHING... like they've forgotten I'm a parent. I suppose part of it is cos I'm not there to react/ ground them or whatever's appropriate, part of it is that their Dad and I have a strained relationship.

Being a parent is the hardest job! And I agree with everyone else. You did the right thing. You can be an ear and a support, but ultimately you are a mom who has to look out for the welfare of your child. Even if she feels upset that you spoke to her father, she is bound to understand that it was your place, as her mother, to make certain she is safe.

Oh, hunny, I think you did the totally right thing. Yes, she is mad but she will come around. Don't

Thank you for your replies ladies. I knew all along I was doing the right thing.. I think I just needed validation. It's so very very hard to be this far away from my kids.
The more united front Kim and Scarlet suggested would be a grand idea, but has proved impossible ever since the kids reached their teen years. I don't know exactly what he feels about them, but his reactions are either over the top or problems not dealt with at all.
I didn't get to introduce myself due to problems I was having posting.

She's understandably hurt and angry, but knows I did it out of love for her...
