Update from Sandra

Hi girls!

I apologize for my lack of participation lately, I lurk a little when I can but I have been having a hard time keeping up since I began working full time. I thought I would stop in tonight and say hi and give a little update.

First, I love my job. The people are great, the work is neverending, I like that. I hate to be stagnant. I never mind going at all, which is not what I expected. I am going to apply/enroll in a liberal studies program at OU for the fall. I want to further my education and the program is almost completely online.

My daughter is doing great. I am so happy we returned to OK. She was invited to apply for the National Honor Society and got accepted. I am so proud of her. She is playing softball and doing well there too. Life is good for my little (16 yr old) girl! Whew. Oh, I almost forgot, I am letting her fly to PA for a visit with my family for Spring break. I am really nervous about being apart for 8 days, and especially nervous about letting her fly alone. Well, her friend is going with her,

Sandra,

I enjoyed reading your update. Thank you for sharing with us. Your job/school situations sound great. Being happy in your work makes the rest of life so much easier. Good luck on your education plans. I think it's awesome that you want to take that on. Wonderful news about your daughter. I am sure she will be safe on her trip and I hope she has a lovely time. (I traveled alone, flying from Miami, FL to Tennessee every summer from the time I was 4 years old until I was a teen, so don't you worry about your "little" girl. She'll be fine!) And as for your relationship with Jen, I just wish you both the very best. Take your time and you will each find the right path for yourselves. Take care and good luck!

Thanks Jules, today is the big day she flies out and away..... I am a nervous wreck! She has a layover in Chicago, of all places. Thats one BIG airport! I feel a little better having heard form you. I am sure you had an escort in the younger years. We didn't pay for one. Hopefully all the times we flew together will be enough for her to know what to do - or at least she will know who to ask for help. Here goes nothing.....

Actually, I never did have an escort. Back in those days the flight attendants would just "keep an eye" on you. But getting on and off the plane was up to me alone. Scary to think of that now, especially when I was only 5 or 6 years old! But times were different then. I bet she'll do great! Are you going to have her call you from Chicago? That might ease your mind. Wishing you calmed nerves!!!

Of course she's taking her cell phone. I can't wait to get the bill after 8 days of "checking on her"

Oh how I will miss her smiling face.

I want her to go have fun. I know she is ready - I am the one having trouble. The world is a strange place. My daughter is so sweet and kind, I don't want anyone to be rude to her. She isn't accustomed to it, and her feelings hurt easily.

My biggest fear for my daughter is that the world will change her. She is so innocent. But I know that will not happen on an 8 day trip. LOL

I am trying to look at the bright side, I get 8 days alone with Jen! *wink*
