We had an even better experience on Friday night. We saw the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Company from Chicago. It was a superb performance. There was a wide variety of pieces from dances with a middle eastern influence to traditional jazz dance to the finale, which was performed to gospel music. The costumes and sets were incredible too. We both just loved it, and there was no snoozing at this performance! LOL I highly recommend this group if you ever have the opportunity to see them.
Caly and I will have to find some other things to fulfill our cultural/entertainment needs. There are no more dance performances to attend, and we just finished Season 1 of The L Word on DVD.
Oh, and I have to add that we were finally *acknowledged* on Friday night. We went to eat at a cheap Mexican place, and a lesbian couple was seated at the table right next to us. I made eye contact with one of them, and then all four of us gave each other looks for the rest of our time there. LOL That was pretty cool. At the dance performance Caly was acknowledged by one of the couples we had seen at the ballet performance. It's pretty amazing how something as small as a smile or nod of the head can say SO much.

I wish we had a better arts scene here.

I am pretty shy about it at this point. I think in a setting or group specifically for lesbians (like a social group we want to join here) I would feel more comfortable. Even though I am 100% lesbian now obviously and in a committed relationship, being new to the lifestyle and being straight for so many years still makes me feel like a bit of an imposter. Getting to know other lesbians will help I think.
Ting,
I read you and Caly's last cultural, but didn't respond to it.
Maybe next time you are acknowledged you can strike up a conversation and start networking with some of these people you seem to have things in common with.
Keep on the cultural trail!!!
And keep us posted!

Ting & Caly,
I am so glad you girls are having such a great time together. I can't help remembering watching Caly's timeline in her siggie, it looked so long. Now, I blinked, and you two are together! You guys make me smile.....
Jen and I went for dinner and drinks with my sister and her girlfriend, the whole place knew we were

Ting (and Caly),
It sounds like you guys are having a great time exploring your city's cultural events.
Carol, In love with the most beautiful woman in the world.
Gotta love "the nod"! LOL!
A few months ago, I was on a date and we ended up at an all night diner called the House of Pies (I took Pam there for breakfast while she was in Houston, and she loved it!). Anyhoo, as my date and I were walking towards our table, a gay couple (two guys) saw us, and one of them bellowed out "It's GAY night at the House of Pies!!!!!" It is a good feeling to be recognized by family!

this line has me laughing my TOS off....
I love it!!! And pies too? I'm sorry, but the little triangle slice implies... omg, I just LOVE this!
One of my classmates is gay too. He found it most amusing when we got our kitten, and even more so when I told him the name of the little 'house' we purchased for her. He promptly christened our flat by the same name. So while
Wow, Ladies! The good wishes and expressions of happiness for me and Caly are so appreciated. It does seem like we had to wait forever to be together and now that
