What I had thought to be strep throat, Brandi has found to be tonsil stones. I have found several articles about them but I was wondering if anyone had any personal exp's w/them. They are pockets on your tonsils that collect bacteria and food particles and other junk you have in your (my) mouth. YUCK!!! Says a lot of kids get them and never know it cause they normally have no symptoms. I read that you can scratch them out or gargle w/salt water but it doesnt work.....This explains why my throat hasnt really hurt that bad but it seems to be getting worse and they are growing and taking over the world. And before yall say go to the dr....I saw 6 the past month and none said or did anything cept UMMMMM, dunno, maybe a growth... dumb drs!

NO nononono, I'm not Not feeling well, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of them besides what I have read. There arent any meds for it and the other option if I cant get them out is a tonsilectomy and I DONT want that! Serioulsy 6 different drs looked at my throat and none offered any tests or meds. Other than that I "feel" ok. I am almost back to normal...as normal as possible. Where is the post about omega 3s? I'm gonna go look for it.

I have them, too. They are usually harmless, but can cause infection if left too long. I use a cotton swab and gently press on the tonsil until a glob of gunk pops out. I have several pockets in each tonsil, so it usually takes about 4 cotton swabs to get all the gunk out. I know it's time to clean them out when I can feel a

My aunt gets these...and as far as I know there is no medication for them. She was informed by her Dr. that they are natural crevices in one's throat (some people have more than others) that collect "debris," just as you mentioned. It happens more often in the Spring/Fall months due to an increase in pollen.
I will tell you...and this is gross, as well...she gets them out with Q-Tips. She presses lighty either directly ON them, or beside them.
Good luck!

P.S. I just phoned her...she has never, ever, felt sick from them, either.

Egads Mandi! From what Ginny and Jojo described, that sounds ickieeee! I am so sorry that you now have to worry about this on top of everything else, but fortunately they do not seem to be too dangerous - just really inconvenient.

Mandi,
for one thing, next time I will heed the subject title while eating my lunch, hahaaa.
I have never heard of this, but I think it would take a doctor to help with it. I know, I know,
you are not fond of the doctors right now...Have you tried gargeling (sp) with an antiseptic mouth wash a couple of times a day or after eating? I have no idea if that would work but...
You could tell the docs what you believe it is.
I will check around ivillage on some of the other health boards too. Have you gone to any of the other boards dealing with some of your diagnosis?
I will see what I can find.
I bet your resistance is low due to MS. I know that because of being diabetic I am very prone to all kinds of infections too.
You really will have to be diligent about taking care of you body and watching out for infections.
I don't pretend to be a doctor or anything like that.
I hope you get this under control soon sweetie. Brandi did good research for you.
Take care,
I will see what I can find on this.
But honestly you need to go back to the doc.

Well, It sounds from the other posts like it is something you can control.
It does not sound like a pleasant thing to have to do but at least there is something you can do.
Does anyone know if antiseptic mouth wash after eating can help?
Like after you do the cotton swab thing?
