Last night, Caly and I ventured out to see what the local lesbian social group in Knoxville is all about.

Awwwwww ting, sorry it was so awkward.
Hopefully the bar will be better.
I do think if you go to the restaurant, you should just walk up to the table and ask if this is the regular group that meets here and is it for anyone.
They maybe did not want to just assume it was okay to call you over and say, hey we are a bunch of lesbians and we think you are too, would you like to join us?
Kind of that not outing people thing.
You can probably find some literature and news letters or papers at the bar. Also the bar tenders are usually up on things that are going on in the community.
We went to a lesbian game night at a book store one time and I just said this must be the place, everyone laughed and introduced themselves. So, sometimes if you just break the ice or ask it should be ok.
Hope it goes better at the bar. At least you can dance together.
Keep us posted!

You kind of have to see the humor in the situation.

We did find some humor in the situation, which was good! We will giggle about it for a long time.

I think calling ahead would have been a good idea.

I definitely got that not outing people vibe from them.

If I had had a glass of wine in me I wouldn't have had any problem speaking up! LOL

Thanks, Cat. We haven't decided whether or not to give it another shot. Caly posted on their web site about it, and another person responded and said she and her partner showed up and felt the same way we did. So, at least our perceptions weren't totally wrong! LOL

AWWWWWWWWWW I can see you two sitting there trying to be inconspicuous! Shame on them for not coming over to invite you in. My mother was great at inviting people into a group! Perhaps they were feeling the same way? Checking you out from a distance wondering if you were or not! It's a mating ritual dance thing that will probably go better the next time. Perhaps you can e-mail or call a social director from the group and ask specifically the when or where time, and perhaps you can meet her before the meeting so she can introduce you to the group?

"It was obvious that the group was very close knit".

You guy's are such a sweet couple, I'm sure you will fit in the group. It's kind of how I feel about this board, I'm making friends by staying around. I was uncomfortable coming here at first, worried that I wouldn't fit in, and then Rut Row!!!!!!!!Oh well, stick it out, you will find your niche there! Love you guys,

Ting,,

I was going to post to you that I thought that you might have been too femme for them to realize you were a couple! Too funny since you just said that in your post! You really had no lipstick on? What's with that? lol
