Last night, Caly and I ventured out to see what the local lesbian social group in Knoxville is all about.

LOLOL

Well, Caly much prefers me "au naturel". She is the first person who ever made me feel beautiful without make up.

Thanks, Halo! Those were very sweet words. I hope we can find some friends with whom we can hang out on the weekends. My circle of friends has gotten pretty small, and I want to work to make it bigger.

Awww Ting, you look like the perfect femme mother, and that is so sweet your DD telling you that! You are setting a good example for her! When I had my DD I was so fearful that I wouldn't be femme enough a woman to raise her right. I could never fix her hair up in bows! lol A funny story, if you don't mind....

I breast fed both children. With my DD Jess, I had to leave her for three days for a field training exercise. It was 1:30AM when my platoon had a night road march back to post. My problem; I was very uncomfortable from the milk, and I was in a hurry to return. So, it ended up being a five mile run...after the weapons were turned in, I ran home in full battle dress uniform, and camoflauge make up all over my face. Her room was dark, I grabbed the baby wipes and cleaned myself off, and started to wake Jess from her crib. Then in the dim light from the hallway, I remembered my makeup on my face...too late, her little eyes opened as she stretched and her mouth opened and she smiled at me.....I was so worried that she would wake up screaming and have nightmares the rest of her life! lol, I breast fed her in the rocking chair, and she layed there stroking my face. Whew

The make up came natural for her, and she still likes to dress up, so I wasn't too much of a bad influence on her, like I thought I would be. Showing your children that they are beautiful without makeup, really sends a true message to them in this world of hype about what is beautiful and what isn't. I think our little girls need to have a healthy self esteem, and truly learn to love and value who they are, without comforming to the social norm. My Jess loves to dress in the Gothe style, and she is still a beautiful woman, and very confident. She's growing and learning about what makes her feel right. The Gothe look is slowly going away, and now she says she is a complete woman, 16 and a job! Wait til she has a baby! lol

Thanks, Scarlett! I could go on all day about what coming out to myself was like. I agree that gaining more confidence in ourselves will help ease the awkwardness.

That is such a sweet story, Halo! Your DD sounds so cool and obviously you have played an important part in helping her become so confident! Yes, 16 is still very young in the grand scheme of things, but
