Get a good flea collar for his cat. You can find them in any grocery store in the pet food section. They work pretty good, as long as you change them out according to instruction. As far as the neutering, yes, you will most likely need to look into that unless you want multiple kitties inhabitating your space. Other than that, I know nadda about cats except to
As a past groomer and handler I know this, a flea collar will keep fleas off the collar, plus the toxins from the collar if they get wet will run on to the cat fur and the cat could lick it when grooming himself. The best thing to do is have the house treated by a professional before the fleas come. The next best thing is to get a good flea treatment from the vet for cats. The kind you put on their backs and it soaks into the skin. If the male is not nuetered he might spray, and mate with your cat or at least try to being your cat is spayed. They might fight and if they both have claws it would be a more fair fight, but males and females will usually get along after initial meetings and or start out by just tollerating each other at first. The male should be nuetered anyway as he will have less chances of testicular cancer the older he gets. Yes he can bring any illness into the female cat including fleas, (unless treated) worms and all other cat diseases. even feline luekemia. They would just need their shots and that should take care of it. They have changed our laws now and it is safer to only have their shots every 3 years. At least that is for dogs. I believe it goes for cats as well. If you have a cage or travel cage you could put the male cat in there and introduce them that way at first. If they do fight (probably won't.) be ready to bang loudly on a pan or something like a coffee can full of stones. Most always and I would prefer to say always, they might not like each other at first and are likely to just tollerate each other instead or fighting. By that I mean the might raise their fur and growl at each other when walking by and then ignore each other. Also your kitty might hide out for awhile. Give them a few weeks of acting strange until they work it out. It should work out fine. I gave you just about every situation I can think of and I think I covered them all. I would also call your vet and tell him/her the story. I hope this helps.
Hugs,
Laurie

Everyone has given good suggestions. I think you should let the cat wonder around with your cat put away for at least a little while then introduce them through a cage. Or through a closed door, let them smell each other. That way he can get the smell of your cat and get used to it before the actual meeting. I have done this a few times and I have always got the cats to get along one way or another. I agree to get the cat fixed, especially if you want him inside. Boys are gross! We should collect all sperm and fix them all! LOL! Sorry- Off subject! Mandi

(((((Cat)))))
I'm sending you and DS lots of angels and good thoughts.
As for the cat, I would recommend you take him straight to a vet to get shots, neutered, and treated for fleas.
