Update on Laurie

Mon, 04-18-2005 - 8:11pm

Hi Again Ladies of the Board and new friends'o mine,

Laurie and I just got back from the VA Hospital, we have been there since 9:00 a.m.! Her blood sugar was still way too high this morning so we went to the doc. Her doctor sent us straight away to the ER for tests. They thought she may be having a heart attack with the symptoms she showed. After lots of testing, she is diagnosed with pneumonia and hyperglycemia. They were going to admit her but decided since her heart enzymes were ok she could rest at home. They sent us home with breathing meds and antibiotics and medicine to bring her blood sugar down. We will go back in 1 week to check her progress.

I appreciate all your replies to my post, and I passed them along to Laurie. You are all very nice people, I can tell by your kind words :-) Hugs to all of you.

Hugs, Laurie Check out my new blog. co-cl of Lesbian Life Message Board Email- didoangst@comcast.net http://didoangst.blogspot.com/ http://www.4-lesbianlife.com/

Sending gigantic hugs to both of you!! I'm so glad to hear that you have been able to get a diagnosis and meds to help!! I have been living with diabetes for 12 years. I know how horrible you feel when you blood sugar is too high - and being sick as Laurie has been really elevates the blood sugar and makes it twice as hard to control. I don't know how long Laurie has had problems with her blood sugar, but please feel free to email me if you have any questions.. amkilgore0163@hotmail.com - I've been dealing with it for a long time now - I even take insulin shots 4 times a day. Again gigantic hugs to both of you! Please tell Laurie I hope she feels better soon. Love, Pooh Bear

Glad to hear they sent her home to mend. As for the heart enzymes, its easy to freak out when you hear about that..but alot of vomiting will throw them off and actually send you into a heart attack. It happened to me once and they got me back on track with a little nitroglycerin.

Please take care of the hypoglycemia. Though its not diabetes, its just as serious. That could really kick your ass in.

Its all about diet. Make the necessary changes and be greatful it isnt worse than what it already is.

Sending you guys hugs and get well soon wishes.

xoxo
