Yesterday there was a "free to good home" sign by the timeclock at work and of course I took it down. When I got to my office I called the number and I am now the proud owner of Carmen and Shane - 2 parakeets. They came with toys and food and cages, etc. Carmen is yellow and green and Shane is blue. They sing so pretty!
Last night Jen and I awoke to a loud crash, and 2 scared little birds flying around the living room. Birdseed and water was everywhere. Jen is AFRAID of the birds - hehehe! I couldn't believe my big badd grrl was running from the little birds. Shane even landed on her once until she flailed around like an idiot. It was toooo funny! Leanne and I finally got things put back together and the birdies are safe and sound in their cage again. Whew. Apparently my little shih tzu Elmo thought the cage was a person and jumped on it. The cage IS tall like a person. Well, he won't get to do that again, I will shut the birds behind closed doors when we can't monitor whats going on.
One good thing is since I have been working 7 days a week I haven't had much time to vaccuum, so at least I got that done at around 4am! LOL
Have a great night ladies, I left work early today - I am going to watch my daughters softball team play for the State title tonight! YAY!
Sandra

Well, I hope that Leanne's team won, and I guess somepeople are afraid of birds.
Give Jen a kiss, and a hug.
Talk to you later and congratulations on the new parakeets.

Too funny Sandralea!
That's totally great, I just love birds! I used to own a parrot that I called TC after the helicopter pilot on Magnum PI! He was such a great bird. I had to give him away when I moved to Germany. I didn't want him to spend six months in quarantine waiting for love. I still miss him. I know you will enjoy the birds, they are so beautiful.

OMG Sandra I adore Parakeets! I love all birds, matter of fact. Perfect job for me would be in a bird sanctuary. One of my favorite pets was a Parakeet named Lillie. I taught her all sorts of tricks, and she even know her way around the entire house - how to get to the window to torment the neighborhood cat outside. Really - she would perch herself on the window and sing and dance for this cat, until the cat would finally try to leap through the hard plate glass at her and Lillie would fly off. I don't know how many times a day she would do this. She also loved buzzing my dad while he was trying to read the morning paper. When we would take her on road trips, she would perch herself on the steering wheel and navigate. She also knew her way back to her cage when she was tired, and she had a favorite song - "Human" by Human League. Whenever I would play that song, she would sing and dance and bob her head up and down. I was 17 when she died - called my best friend bawling my eyes out and she laughed at me for crying over a stupid bird!
Sorry for going on and on, but I do still miss that darn bird sometimes. You will have a lot of fun with them! Sorry that Jen is scared of them, maybe they'll grow on her.
I know this is late, but good luck to Leanne's team!
