HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -- The Canadian military has performed its first gay wedding.

Two men -- a sergeant and a warrant officer -- exchanged vows last month in a small ceremony at the chapel of a Canadian Forces base in Nova Scotia.
Canada's military chaplains are under orders to treat a same-sex couple the same as a man and a woman who wish to marry.

The wedding was arranged and celebrated by a base chaplain from Canada's United Church.
