What would you do?

Caly and I really want to plan a trip to Kentucky this fall. We want to explore horse country together. We were discussing this during our trip last week and decided that staying in a bed and breakfast inn would be very romantic and special. So, we looked online and found a couple of places. But, we started wondering if we would feel comfortable being "out" in some way in that kind of place. It's more intimate and smaller than a hotel. We would be chatting with the innkeepers and guests on a more personal level. We've always thought of B&Bs as romantic getaway type places, and two women staying in a single bed romantic room might raise eyebrows. Neither one of us cares what other people think and speculate, but we want to be relaxed that weekend and not deal with anyone making us feel uncomfortable. If we were going to be in a more open part of country that would be one thing, but my guess is that Kentucky horse country is a pretty conservative area.

We thought about emailing the inns and asking if they are gay friendly. Our other option is to just do it and not worry about it. Have you ever run into this type of situation? How did/would you handle it?

TIA!

Well your first thought was correct, just email the place to see if they're gay friendly, at least that's what I would do.

My wife and I live in the horse country of Kentucky. I suggest you stay with the bigger cities as on the whole Kentucky is not very gay friendly. I looked through my Lesbian Connection and found no B&B's listed for Ky. If you stay in a smaller city please be careful and even though you are out and proud tone it down alot. Some parts of Ky are like entering the past, they are often very closed minded people.

Thanks for the Info all!

I also did a gay friendly search on the internet and found the B&B at Sills Inn in Versailles.

Ting,

Well, your planning your trip for a good time. Your not planning your trip for other people. B&B are so wonderful!!! It's like a home away from home!!! Go for it!!! Don't worry if people accept you guy's being gay! Your not going for anybody but Caly & Caly isn't going for anybody but you!!! So what if somebody gives you a look. That's when you guy's look into each other eye's and nothing else matters at all. Don't let other's decide for you guy's - Go have a wonderful time - and take lots of pictures!
