That is beautiful. I have sometimes wondered what it would have been like to live back then on the Island of Lesbos.
I also am a history nut and so I find this to be fascinating at the very least.

I googled Sappho just the other day (or was that a few weeks ago?). I am so interested in learning more about her, unfortunately

When I was first coming out I used to read a lot about gay history. That include Sappho, the Stonewall Riots, etc, etc.

I had a book about Sappho and her poetry. The book also had pictures of beautiful women, some old, some young, and some middle aged. That particular book used to be one of my favorites. Anyway, thanks for sharing that wonderful poem.

And I can remember one particular poem: "Beauty crowds me before I die". That line seems to have stayed with me, and I think of it when I'm around beautiful women.
