In honor of Gay Pride month,
Let's share what gay pride means to each of us. I think by looking at photos of Gay Pride and comments that people have made on the board it means many things to many people.
Since this is our Gay Pride month please share your views. Maybe we can realize more about it by sharing our different perspectives.
I know some of you are new to this lifestyle and some have been out forever. So I wouild like to get everyones take on Gay Pride and what it means to you or what it meant to you this year.

Cool idea Laurie.

I actually have been thinking alot about Pride in the last few months as I become more and more comfortable with who I am and wanting to be able to be Myself all the time in all situations.

To me Gay Pride means that I can hold up my head and "walk" proudly and show the people that I live around that's it's ok to be a lesbian. I have respect for myself, and I don't have to be vulgar or ignorant about it.

I've gone to my share of marches and political gatherings. I can even remember the March on Washington. We marched past the White House, and shouted, "Nice House, Where's Bill?! It was so neat, the even had the guards there in full uniform, I believe that we made an impression on Bill Clinton, and his wife Hillary. But we had no intention on committing any violence. I've told y'all the story of the Pride march in New York, so I'm not going to reiterate that episode. I've seen the members of ACT UP! But as far as I'm concerend all they wanted to do was get high, drunk and cause a disturbance. When I get my own house, I plan on having a flag pole with my Rainbow flag, and the flag of Israel flying proudly. Of course, I have an American Flag, and I will fly that also. I won't have them flying just for flag day, but all year round. On my wheelchair, I have a Rainbow flag sticker on the side, so that who ever sees it will know that I'm a family member.

But I will always live in peace and in harmony with everyone else. I know down at Rehoboth Beach, before you get to the beach itsself, you'll see larger Rainbow flags. Rehoboth beach is like a little San Fransisco. And I smile at it every time I go to Rehoboth Beach.

And that's what Gay Pride means to me.

Sebastian

< Pride is working together with others to help the world see that we really are not scary and have enhanced the society we live in just as much as heterosexuals have.  And hopefully someday being able to be MYSELF in all ways at ALL Times.>
I like this view of yours. I like the rest too. But, I do believe that your above statement is very important and pretty much say's or covers everything else you said.
Thank you for posting (((((caly)))))

Awwwww alice, you don't have to attend a Pride event to have a take on it. Maybe it would be interesting to see what you think now and then see how or if your views have changed after attending a Pride event.
I hope you have a wonderful experience when you do attend.

I think that is very important gigi. I love that you have the Rainbow flag on your wheel chair.
I have been wearing my rainbow wrist band ever since ginny gave it to me when she got here.
I have had so many people ask about it both heterosexuals and gays. It is really cool.
The March on Washington sounds so cool. I hope to hear more about it sometime.
Thank you (((((gigi)))))
