I got a phone call on Friday to tell me my gallstone operation is scheduled for Thursday 14th July- I went to the hospital for my pre-op assessment and did the grand tour- up to Cardiology for an ECG (apparently I have arrhythmia with a variation of 12% which is regarded as ok), down to the laboratory for a blood test, further down to radiology for a chest xray... havent heard anything back from any of the other results, I think its all precautionary because I have to use a preventative inhaler for asthma.
I am nervous about the thought of being knocked out because I was conscious for my last op- I had it under epidural but I am more annoyed with Natalie because her first reaction was oh, I cant be there, I have no car and no one to look after the kids. I know her mother would if she just asked! She phoned her today to tell her I was having the op and talked for hours about everything but!
I dont have anyone else here- so it looks like I will be on my own :-(
Oh well, I am sure I will live. Wish me luck.

I do count myself lucky because I was expecting a much longer wait- and the other good thing is that I have been able to go through all the pre-op tests which I would not have done if it had been an emergency procedure. Did you keep the stone? They have asked me if I want to keep mine and my first reaction was ewwww no, but now I think it might be interesting to see them even if I dont keep them.
I am sure I will be ok even if Nat doesnt manage to come with me, it would have just been good to have her there til I went to theatre and when I come back. I will take everyone's good wishes instead :-)
Yep, you're right about the gas. That's what caused me the most discomfort at first, but it passed after a few hours.
Good luck!
(((((hugs)))))))) Ven ~ at least it will soon be over and done with and doesn't give you too much time stew over it and get nervous.
As for Nat...she's needs a kick up the bum in my opinion. You NEED her there for you through this. Maybe you should be direct and tell her that? If I had the money, chica, I'd fly over there myself and hold your hand.
WOw,
Seemed like it took forever, I had to go back to walking 12 to 15 miles a day a week after my surgery...I think that made it take longer! They cut me w a keyhole in four places before they figured out what was wrong. My appendix grew upward and attached itself around my liver. I kept telling all my doctors that the only time I felt good was when I drank a beer. Ya think that would have clued them in! lol, everyone kept insisting it wasn't my appendix....that's why they say doctors practice medicine right? lol Turns out a very rare thing that took place and the surgeons were brothers and told me they had a great time in the O.R., took pictures and all that fun stuff! I think people were coming in and out to take a gander! lol
Good luck with yours and yes we all will be there in spirit!
