Melissa E....good for the soul

Do any of you have a singer/band, book, etc. that you listen to or read over and over when you need to feed your soul?

For me, it's Melissa Etheridge. I remember over two years ago being in a very, very dark place and so many of her songs spoke to me. Some expressed the same feelings I had at the time and others inspired me. I listened to ALL of her songs over and over and eventually bought/burned on CD all of her albums. I went to her concert a year and a half ago. Several of her songs have very special meanings for me and Caly and always will. Finally, I had my fill and stopped listening for a while. But, every now and then I have to have my "Melissa Fix". LOL

I'm having one now! I'm not listening to her because I'm down this time; I'm listening because the familiar sound of her voice is refreshing, like visiting an old friend for the first time in a long time.

OK, I'll stop rambling! Just wanted to share.

Hi Beth,
I have listened to goth due to my having worked with kids when I needed help with some of my businesses. I actually liked some of it. Some of it just did not do it for me but I let the kids enjoy it while they did their work.
I also was an inpatient counselor for teens with substance abuse. I would let them listen to their goth music on a stereo in my office when they were doing well or did their homework well. They had to keep up school work while inpatients as some of them could be there for a couple of months or so. They would sit around on the floor of my office and it seemed would forget where they were for awhile, the whole time being clean and sober and we would process that fact of it in group. So it still served a purpose.
So that is about it for my goth experience.
Hugs,
Laurie
