Hello there again, this your resident nut speaking, I've got too much time on my hands.
With all of the technology that we have today, like for example, email, spellcheck, cut and paste, and all of the other advances that we have at our fingertips, do you still use the dictionary, regular mail(snail mail), putting two pieces of paper together with staples, still write with a pen, pencil or crayon? LOL!
For me, I like writing letters, and to tell the truth, I know I've misspelled words, so me and the dictionary are relatively good friends. I personally like the personal touch behind a letter or card, and not just from my honey. And stapling paper together is a great way to exercise the hand muscles, all of that squeezing, (gotta keep those hand muscles strong, for squeezing soft things, hey, don't look at me like that!). Not to mention, putting that letter in an envelope and sealing it, with not only your saliva, but perfume or colonge. Ok, I'll stop, but you get the picture right? Anyway, thanks
LOL!

I still like to write letters and always will. I LOVE to pick out nice stationery. I also like to receive hand-written letters and cards. Thank goodness books haven't gone electronic all the way. THAT would be a real shame!
I can't help but be into markers, scissors, glue, and paper with young kids around. We keep a supply of it all in our house. DD1 is constantly making books out of yarn, markers, and notebook paper. A couple of weeks ago she made a book

Anytime I go to a hallmark store or a grocery store, I always look at the cards.
They do have a lot of pretty stationary paper.
Thanks Ting.

Thanks Kim, when I was in school, they made us look words up, and I used to love reading the Encyclopedia. I read alot of interesting things. I used to do some personal research on different subjects that caught my interest.
Thanks!

Hmmmm... I use an online dictionary and communicate primarily through phones, email, messaging, etc... but! When something is of significance and a personal touch would be thoughtful, I will set and write longhand and mail it. Did this with a very dear friend a year ago ( the story was posted here somewhere) because what was once a very very close relationship, one where I was about to marry her to assist, only to have my life screwing up my business in turn put an end to it... it left both of us reeling, ducking for cover and the comfort of our walls. It was probably one of the few times we ever shared with another on that level, and to get burned so badly was pretty traumatic. By last August, her ex had cornered me and pried open some of what had transpired with us, and goddess, what a mess.
After a rather nasty exchange between us, I received something from her that was somewhat conciliatory... but by then her current partner, who is also a good friend, was ticked... and a second message she wrote overnight was missed. I didn't see it for two weeks. Goddess, there she was, the person I knew and loved, real, not imaginary. So I sat and wrote... and wrote. I rewrote it like 5 times over a week. Finally, it went out in the mail last September. A couple of months later, we teased a bit on the board where we first met. She also expressed concern for what was happening in my life with ex, the business failure, etc. Slowly... and now. Now the friendship between the three of us is there again, restored. We talk about the time we spent in Madison, because we had a great time, we laugh about it, we have sorted and given it all perspective.
And it happened for one reason... all three of us gave a hoot, we all cared enough to go the extra mile, because the ties from before instinctually told us what had happened was all wrong. Friendship and love ultimately are stronger than about anything, if we only open ourselves to try. We all make mistakes, screw up, etc... but if we are willing to learn, to make our lives better, to do better, to strive to be a better, more understanding, caring person... we can overcome much.

Call me crazy, but I love to use the dictionary (and play Scrabble-where the dictionary is needed!). I write everyday not only for fun, but the forms at work have to be handwritten, for now. The stapler is used often as is the envelope in the snail mail.
It's fun to revert to the good ol' handwritten letter sealed with perfume and a kiss to get that "personal touch" you so desire from your loved one:)
