Football, anyone??!!

It's kind of hard to bring up something like this in light of the tragedy our nation is facing, but something light-hearted might be a good thing.

Anyway, who's excited about football season starting?? Anyone participate in fantasy football??

I'm not a big sports person, but I do LOVE college football, and I think I will become a pro football fan this year because Caly likes it a lot. UT plays its first game on Saturday. Caly and I will have snacks, drinks, and TV remote in hand! This is my favorite time of year all around and the excitement of college games really raises my spirits.

Who are you rooting for this year?

Sounds like what they are saying over here about our government right now. I figured the rest of the world would be saying things like that. I can't wait for his regime to be out of there! I hope he will take the help that other countries are offering to us.
On the other topic, sounds like I need to watch some rugby.

Laurie

Rugby is crazy, an incredibly physical sport. It's followed/ played over here in Britain too.. and these players bash the crap outta eachother!

All with no pads or helmets, which is why they call US football 'sissy'. Top sport over here has to be 'football' though, which in Europe naturally means soccer. It's great fun to follow the England team as well as Liverpool's. The atmosphere of the public can be electric on the days of big games! Flags fly.. it's cool.

And Ven, are the All Blacks the ones who do that intimidating,

The best part of Rugby is the party after! Mud slides with both team throwing girls into the pit and kegs of beer! And oh my, how I love to tackle women!

Yes I was the hooker! In the middle of the scrum, a large gathering of women who lock arms and butt heads together, hold me up off the ground and when the ref throws the ball into the center, two hookers fight by kicking the ball behind to a team mate. Pick the ball up and run like HE double hockey sticks. You run in line and keep tossing the ball back to the other players as you make your way up the field trying to score a touchdown. No forward passing, just lateral. No pads, well unless someone was on their period! lol

Oh yes, do I miss those days. I'm only 5' 4", and my greatest glory was taking a girl down by myself. This girl would drag five of our players along the ground, and no one could take her down. She changed directions and head straight for me, like a cow poke, I ran to her, leaned in and grabbed her around the waist and threw her over my back. The game came to a halt and she layed on her back looking at me like who the TOSS are you? hehehehe, that was fun! Then she tried to punch me later as she ran towards me with the ball, I ducked the punch, poked the ball out of her arms and scored a touch down! But, the ref called a penalty on her and they took the points away, :( boo hoo. I had the best time playing Rugby! I really miss it!

I think it is great that your Mom works for FEMA. I have a friend who also works for FEMA.
I wish for her to have a safe job down there.
Everyone is wondering why it took so long just to fly food and water in to the people who were stranded in the Superdome and the bridge and convention center. To many needless deaths in those places from lack of food and water. Of course so many people have also been without the much needed meds.
I will check out ESPN to see if I can catch a rugby game.
Are they as big and as hard hitting as the football players?
Do they get injured really bad?
I need to learn about the game (rugby) so I will enjoy watching it better. I like all sports so I imagine I would like rugby.

Yeah, when I was in high school, there's a game that's played every year between the junior and senior girls, it was called Powder Puff football. The unfortuntate thing was no one wanted to be tackled, but I did "accidently" grab a few. LOL! Oh, yes, it is nice to chase after a woman! weg!
