Tomorrow I get my surgery date

Hi all,

Tomorrow I go and get my date for my Lipthotripsy ( sound wave therapy ) on my kidneystones. I'm getting nervous that it won't work again and I'll be saddled with this pain forever - or has it been forever ? I can't tell anymore :(

I'm scared, cranky,

Robin

I know what you mean Robin. Can someone be there with you at least? A family member or anyone?
I hope you don't have to go through it alone.
Once when I first went into the Navy, I had to have knee surgery in a new state and all alone. My Mom came later when I got out of the hospital to take me to therapy. Had to leave my car at the hospital then have a friend pick it up for me.
The night before my surgery friends came by which was nice.
Then as I was falling asleep (I know this will sound crazy) but I saw my grandmother who had recently and only months before, passed away, sitting on my hospital bed, telling me that she would be there with me, she rubbed my knee and it felt like she really did. Then she said, "Everything will be ok." I fell asleep and the next morning I felt much better going to surgery.
These days it scares me more, because now I know that I do not do well when under anesthesia.
I hope that somebody will be there for you, to ease your mind. I have been told that if you tell them about your fears, say if you tend to quit breathing etc. they can be prepared and it is much more advanced today than it was 20 years ago.
They can wake you up sooner now too, only I am not so sure I would want to. I want to wake up after I am all healed, lol.
Hugs,
Laurie

I do agree about waking up when all healed, but I dont think they will let you sleep a whole week or two.
