Pulling Up Stakes! Time for A Change...

Hi All,

I'm about to leave Alaska. I've lived here for almost 9 years and I'm feeling the need for a major change in my life. I've been looking around, researching different towns and such, trying to figure out where I should go next. It's a difficult decision. Anyone have any ideas? LOL...

I'll be 30 in December and I'm looking trying to have a positive outlook on what the next decade will bring. Everyone says women peak in their thirties and I've had a lot of people tell me that turning 30 was the best thing that happened to them with regards to how their lives changed for the better...

So, that gives me hope because the last decade has been pure H***!!! (All caps!)
I'm ready to start over.

Anyone else out there starting over or turned thirty and it was the best thing to happen? I guess I'm just looking for positive thoughts, ideas, experiences.

I don't know whether to be excited or scared!

Also, if you know of any towns that are really great places to live with a strong gay community please tell me! Up here the community is very small and closeted, and when I move this time, I want to go somewhere where I'm not the only lesbian!

LOL!
Hugs,

Lafaye

Hey lafaye!

Well, it is good to see that you have posted something. When I turned thirty, things did change for me. I had more confidence about myself, and I was becoming more comfortable in my sexuality. But I knew, inside, that I wanted to begin to settle down with one woman. I was tired of meeting a variety of women, at the time. I had my eye on one woman, but nothing really came of it. To this day, we are very good friends. I love her, but she doesn't want to settle down with me or anyone else. At the time, I had proposed marriage to her (and this was before the whole nation stepped forward with this), and she said, "No". She wasn't prepared to settle down, and you know the rest of the story. Anyway, for me thirty was my time to begin to look for a life partner, wife (or whatever you choose to use). I really couldn't give you any suggestions other than San Fransisco, CA (plenty lesbians to choose from, right Pam?) ;-) lol! Maybe the New England States, the atmosphere is so awesome. How do I know, why, Some of our members right here are from one or many of the New England States. Not to mention, I've been up to Boston, and that was when I was in my 20's. The air is a lot cleaner, and the women, WOW! Anyway, I couldn't do too much checking out the babes, because at the time, I went up there for family reunions, and unfortunately, a funeral. And not the mention to hear the Boston Pops play during a nice summer evening, you would simply love it!

I don't know too much of any other place, maybe you've researched the places that I've mentioned, but from what I can tell the gay/lesbian community is pretty strong. I think you would like it, but don't take it from me.

Maybe some of the other ladies, can give you more of an informed opinion, I'm only going by my brief exposure. Keep going upward!

Hugs!

LOL!!!!

I just love you Girl!

VA was recommended by two close friends of mine. And I've been tempted to move nearby. The fact that my family is in GA is a sore temptation too! I miss my MOMMEEEE!!!! (WAH)I'll have to do some serious research about the areas surrounding. I got your call...I'll give you a buzz tomorrow. Email me if it's not a good time. I've been looking hard at Baltimore for the last couple weeks...I dunno...I'm just know I'm ready!

BIG hugs,

L.

Burlington eh? I never ever would have guessed Vermont to have thriving gay comms. But the snow...oh the snow...I can't do it Caly! LOL! In any case, it's fun to see how many places are out there that do have them. Like travel trivia...

I need some serious Vit-K in my life. And more than two months of it!

Thanks!

You're welcome, Lafaye. Like I said, Boston may be a bit different then it was when I was younger, and when I visited my Auntie(that's not a put on, that what I call all three of my Auntie's). Anyway, I hope you enjoy your search, and I hope that you find somplace to your liking.

Hugs!
