Hi All,
I'm about to leave Alaska. I've lived here for almost 9 years and I'm feeling the need for a major change in my life. I've been looking around, researching different towns and such, trying to figure out where I should go next. It's a difficult decision. Anyone have any ideas? LOL...
I'll be 30 in December and I'm looking trying to have a positive outlook on what the next decade will bring. Everyone says women peak in their thirties and I've had a lot of people tell me that turning 30 was the best thing that happened to them with regards to how their lives changed for the better...
So, that gives me hope because the last decade has been pure H***!!! (All caps!)
I'm ready to start over.
Anyone else out there starting over or turned thirty and it was the best thing to happen? I guess I'm just looking for positive thoughts, ideas, experiences.
I don't know whether to be excited or scared!
Also, if you know of any towns that are really great places to live with a strong gay community please tell me! Up here the community is very small and closeted, and when I move this time, I want to go somewhere where I'm not the only lesbian!
LOL!
Hugs,
Lafaye

Don't forget.
Pieces of My Life
I don't have any ideas, but I wanted to let you know that I'm looking for a job outside of my current area of residence. It is tough. But, I'll be glad when change does find me...or, I find change. Good luck and keep us posted.
Hugs!
Hi, my name is Kathy and I'm annoyed cause I could swear I posted this before and it's gone!
Northampton Massachusetts
As seen in the Weekly World News as "lesbianville usa"
It's a small town that is ungodly lesbian positive (at one point i think the highest per capita population of lesbians in the country). Lots of neat things happening in the region because of the 5 colleges (Smith in Noho, Amherst, Umass, and Camp Hamp (Hampshire) in Amherst, and Mt Holyoke in So. Hadley). Bookstores, restaurants, coffeehouses, and good ice cream places. The "happy valley" has IMHO all the good parts of a small town with all the diversity and arts of a major city. Even has free public transit!
The local radio station has ads for fertility clinics for lesbian women. I mean, can you get any more positive than that?
Northampton is expensive, but you can find reasonably priced places in the towns nearby. Job market isn't all that great, mainly the colleges.
We are very gay friendly including the Mayor, Governor and Congress Woman.
We have a very large GLBT community and many glbt events, bars, restaruants, street fairs, dances clubs, bookstores etc.
We have all of the Major and amature Sports here except for a Major league baseball team which they are trying to get here.
We have a pro women's basketball team that is always a huge mix of lesbians and families.
We have lesbian performers for concerts, comedy etc.
Housing is very affordable and there are always jobs to be found.
We have at least 2 theatres and IU Campus. Many colleges around here.
We have Horse racing tracks, Off track betting, River boats close by, Chicago, Louisville Kentucky, Cinci, and columbus, Ohio and many other cities that are only within 2 or three hours driving distance.
We love it here. The only other place we would move would be on the coast.

Indianapolis is very gay friendly. I never felt uncomfortable when I visited there this past June. It is also VERY clean...

I just laughed so hard that I snorted. LOL
In case anyone is wondering... Laurie had a Taco Bell craving late one night while I was visiting. Now I have Taco Bell cravings in the middle of the night, but the closest one is nearly 25 miles (30-40 minutes)

I was mostly on camput. I used to lived on Grayson on old Orchard Hill than moved to Northeast on the "Diversity Floor". *L*
