I made it!

Hi from NC! I almost missed the plane because I got tied up and could not leave for the airport in the time suggested by the airline for holiday travel. We got stuck in horrendous traffic on the way to the airport, my dad gave me a nervous breakdown the entire way there (this is not good Beth, you better anticipate missing your flight, we're going to run out of gas Beth, you are not gonna make it, you are not going to find a later flight out this time of year Beth, etc etc etc) and I nearly gave Jo one too. But we got there 5 minutes after the plane was scheduled to board (and the plane was on schedule) and I RAN through check-in and I RAN through security (tossing my shoes and my belt and carry-on at the attendants) and I RAN down one of those moving belt thingies (like a sidewalk) and I RAN to the gate to find out that the gate had changed so I RAN some more until I got to the right gate and I threw my boarding pass at the woman and asked if I could still board and she said "you barely made it". So, I caught my breath and settled into my seat, called Jo so she would know that I got on the plane then called my dad who was circling the airport in case I did miss it and could not get another flight. 5 minutes later they turned off the cabin lights and started the engine preparing for take off. 5 minutes after that, the engine turned off and the pilot announced a "slight problem" that the mechanics were looking into. 10 minutes after that, the pilot came back on and announced a malfunction with the wing that needed to be taken care of before we could leave, and that he would keep us updated. THe AC and cabin lights were turned back on for our comfort. The problem was fixed somehow and we took off an hour and 15 minutes after scheduled take off, meanwhile they were letting stand-by passengers board since the flight was not sold out. Kind of ticked me off that I got all panicked and hot and sweaty for nothing, but at least I made my flight.

Yeay meeeeee!

Okay, so I met Strat and Pepper and Lacey and Spanky and Max and Buttercup and Nikki but I have not met Riley yet. (these are the dogs) I have also met the parents. Jo's brother chauferred us from the airport and will be driving to Houston (where he is moving for good) tomorrow. He offered to just let me ride back with him instead of me staying until Monday, but no - that's not an option.

Anyway, that's all for now folks. Turkey is done and people are showing up, so I guess I'd better go mingle. (((hugs)))) everybody and happy Thanksgiving.

Jo says hello and happy T-day too.

Btw, this is Beth typing this.

Um, yer supposed to get tied up *after* ya get there, not before!

Have a great time!

And I can’t waste another second
Living in hell like it’s some kind of heaven.
And if one truth leads to another
Then isn’t there one I can unconver.,
There isn’t one I will not discover.

It’s the right time.
It’s my time.
It’s the right time.
It’s my time.
It’s my turn to discover.

So glad you made it in one piece, Beth! I bet you were SO relieved to actually get there after all that hullaballoo???

Reminds me of my very first trip to Montana to see Nony, back in the summer of 2001. Delayed getting out of Manchester due to fog at Amsterdam. Finally got to Amsterdam to discover had missed my connection to Minneapolis by about 20 mins. Stood in a queue for 3 hours to get reallocated. They put me on a flight to Toronto of all places...and then a connection from there to Minneapolis. Made the Toronto flight by the skin of my teeth. Then arrived at Toronto with about 90mins to spare between connections - just enough time to clear immigration, recheck by bags etc. Only problem was, my bags didn't come off the flight and I was stood at a desk trying to fill out a missing baggae form with only about 10 minutes to get to my connection. Great huh? And to top it off, I knew when I landed at Minneapolis I only had about 15 mins to get to the Kalispell flight...the last one till the next day.

Well, you can imagine how frantic I was - ran like a possessed demon to the gate...actually ran through a cordoned area full of security people awaiting the arrival of a VIP. Didn't realise what I'd done till I was through the other side of it mind! The looks I must've got! Gets on the Minneapolis flight with about a minute before they closed the cabin door! Phew! And then I was on tenter hooks, waiting to see if we'd arrive in time for me to catch that final flight. Got there, and by some stroke of luck, the gate I was flying right out of was NEXT TO the gate I landed at! So, I made it after all!!! Without an additional stitch of clothing, mind...but I got there. Just had to live in Nony's clothes for a few days till my suitcase arrived lol. That must have been a sight and a half too - she's six inches taller that me! LOL!

Anyway, hope you both have had a fabulous time together, Beth and Jo...give us an update when you get chance, eh?

Big hugs ~~~ Loubie

Yikes! I've apparently been fortunate on mah flights... I had to scoot through Northwest's Detroit terminal once, but nothing like your experience. We travelled with friends to Baltimore for a weekend, and one of 'em, a spec ed instructor no less was singled out and seached
