Holiday Spirit at its Best

I'm really trying hard to have a relaxing week off, but it hasn't started out that way. I did have a nice morning (worked out, played on the computer), but then I went to a Christmas store to buy one of those ladders that you lean against your tree. I locked my keys in the car. Thankfully, Caly has an extra key, so she came and unlocked the car. I got ready to go back out to run errands and headed to the mall to look for elves for the tree ladder. Found some for $3. Cool! Got back out on the roads, and the traffic was really picking up. I made my way down to the post office to mail a package for Caly. I drove around the block 4 times before figuring out how to get on the road to the post office (there's major construction going on). Spent only 5 mins. in the post office. Yoo hoo! I ran to Target for a few things (although I always end up buying more than a few! LOL) and then over to the $1 store, the craft store, and Borders. I found some gifts for DD2's daycare buddies (little board books with CD). Awesome find! I found a cool door hanging for our new apartment at AC Moore and some frames, and I picked up the book "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and a bookmark for DD1. We're going to read it together.

So, all of that was good except for racing from store to store so I could be done and get home. As I was driving around the parking lot to head home, I came up on a huge Excursion or some other SUV who was pulled half-way out in the lane to wait for someone to come out of a store. I pulled around him, and he wasn't looking and started pulling out too. Thankfully I got past him. But, he got so upset at me, and started honking repeatedly and driving right up on my tail. I don't respond to road rage, so I acted like I didn't hear him. When we got out on the 4-lane road he drove right up next to me, but I didn't pay attention. No telling what he did!

Anyway, that so annoyed me. Ya know, we're in the heart of the holiday season, and this guy had to be such a jerk. Yeah, I could have slowed down and waited for him to pull out, but geez, give me a break! Merry Christmas to you too mister, I said under my breath as he drove past me.

The day also made me realize that I am growing increasingly frustrated in the commercialism of the season. The number of holiday sales this year is mind-blowing. AC Moore was out of almost everything. It looked as if people had come through this weekend and cleaned it all out. I've spent way over budget this year, but no more. Next year, I'm scaling back and will try to do some really meaningful handmade things.

Well, that's my holiday rant. I hope I don't have anymore! Thanks for reading, and may you all have a stress-free last week of the holiday madness.

((((TING)))),

Sorry about the rude driver! Sometimes I experience similar rudeness. I drive a small sedan and cannot see over vehicles as well as someone driving an SUV. I've had horns blown and been called names when trying to yield left into on coming traffic. They may be able to see what is coming ahead over the other traffic yielding, but I cannot. I ignore those types of people as well. Some people expect way too much. Expecting me to turn left when I cannot see on coming traffic is in my opinion crazy.

Our traffic was terrible this past weekend. Getting from point A to point B was so time consuming. I can say with confidence that you are a good driver. I would be a passenger in your car any time!

Hugs!

It sounds so frustrating ting!
I can't stand people like that. They thrive on making miserable things even more miserable by using other people.
To them feeling bad feels good and making other's feel bad feels even better. Very sick people out there. It makes me feel so good to get home after a day like that. You did right to ignore him.
I am glad to hear you got home safe and tucked in all cozy now. : 0
Hugs,
Laurie

Sounds like you will have a wonderful 26th with your Honey! I'm looking forward to that with Caly this weekend too.

Hugs and thanks for the support!

Thanks, Laurie! I had to get back out in it for a bit this morning, but traffic wasn't nearly as bad. I've been cleaning at Caly's old apartment all afternoon and am ready to go get some dinner and crash!

Hugs!
