Is this a small victory?

I wrote this in my blog today, I wanted to share it here and see if you ladies think its a victory or not? I live in the bible belt, small town Oklahoma, I kinda think it is...
Today when Leanne and Jennifer and I joined the gym there was a little problem when it came time to pay.
A couple for one month was 55.00
Single 35.00
Family 55.00 (for the couple) and 15.00 (for any children) = 70.00
SO technically we should pay this:
Sandra = 35.00
Leanne = 35.00
Jennifer = 35.00
total = 105.00
If we were a "family" then it would have been 70.00.
So I said to the girl:
"We all live in the same house - we are a couple and a child. Can we get the family rate?"
She replies, with a weird look on her face: "I'll have to call the owners."
I said, "You do that".
and we waited....
She comes back with: "We can give you a ten dollar discount, and call it a household membership. You know, since you're not a real family."
We paid 80.00 ( That's with the 10.00 lesbian penalty).
We are most definately a family. We do all the things that opposite sex couples do with their children. Our home operates like a "traditional" home, maybe even better. We all get up every morning together, Leanne goes to school and we go to work. When we get home we eat together and watch tv together, we do things together on the weekends - same the the "real" families in my neighborhood are doing. There is no fighting, no crying, we aren't loading up in the car and heading out to the family therapist. My daughter is happy and she loves us, we communicate well. Jen and I offer different perspectives so Leanne has options if she needs advice. We have a great life. Very unlike our heterosexual marriages were, you know - when we were in real families...
We are a family, a very happy one.

I think I would have broke out in laughter and said, wow how ignorant a statement for you to make!

Halo,
I was actually kidding about the 10.00 lesbian penalty! We did pay more for our membership, but at least we were acknowledged as a household, not 3 singles. I think for a town full of republican baptists we got a pretty good deal. I wish people would open their minds, and eyes, and see the real world around them.
HUGS,
Sandra
