Update, good news/ bad news...
| Fri, 03-10-2006 - 12:35pm |
I hate to be always coming here with news to drag people down.
The truth is, these past few weeks/months have been very emotional.
This past week I had a nice visit with my day and sister and that side of the family for dad's 80th
birthday.
Then we came back home to mom's appointments... the good news is, the treatments worked.
The tumor has shrunk and is now opperable.
The bad news is, after surgery mom will need 4 more months of 100% chemo and then there is still
only a 20% chance she will live only 2 - 5 years afterwards.
This has been very emotionally draining on me and my family. My mom is being so strong about the
whole thing.
We are trying to be positive. It is hard not to worry all the time.
I have been spending days and nights with my mom and talking alot with her. Also, we have been
just having fun together and with my sister and Sheila and Fred when they can join us.
Mom's surgery will be on Thursday, March 16th at 7:30 a.m. It is called the Whipple Procedure
and is fairly new and very risky, but considered to give the patients the best chances for survival.
She will be in ICU for the first 24 hours then moved to a private room. They will keep her in the hospital for
7-11 days barring any complications.
Many friends and family have been in and out of town to visit and I have played hostess so Mom does not have to worry about all the company while not feeling so great.
We will have 10 people at the hospital during her surgery so that will be very nice support especially if anything goes wrong.
I should close for now as this is getting very long.
I want to thank everyone who is thinking of us. I will probably put more info and thoughts in my blog later since I will be home playing catch up today.
hugs and luv you all,

(((Hugs to you))) and (((((Sheila)))))
C >^. A .
She was putting the dog gate down when Michael jumped on top of it and slammed it
down on her foot across the top. The bottom bar broke the bone on the top right side of her foot.
She has a walking boot to wear.
Michael is only 7 months, but he is huge now. He is AKC so he will be very big.
