Hi Lori, Sorry this finds you not doing so well. I am like you in that I hate to think about surgery, but I would not put it off to long. Just a couple of months like they said. I think I would want to extend my trip if it were possible. Just don't keep putting off the surgery please. I would hate to see you have more complications.
Hugs,
Laurie

This is just my humble opinion but if it were me, I would have the surgery Before going to Canada.
First off its not a normal or healthy gallbladder, and doesnt sound like its going to get better on its own. So the surgery seems to be inevitable at some point.
Secondly, you are not Totally free of symptoms and why should you try to enjoy a special time with your Grrrrrrrl when you are not 100% ?
I'd definitely not wait too long to have the surgery. Just because your symptoms have died down now doesn't mean you won't have bad attacks again. My surgeon told me the same thing about a stone becoming lodged in the bile duct--that it could be life-threatening. I didn't want to get to that point.
The other thing is, what if it does get to that point and you aren't a candidate for laparascopic surgery anymore? Then you face having the more invasive procedure which would take much longer to recover from.
Is there any way you can put off the trip for a couple of weeks?

I didn't meet this guy but he sounds a. thorough, b. concerned, and c. practical; all qualities I would look for in a surgeon.
