Afternoon All!

This weekend instead of posting games I thought I would try a different kind of thread.

I've had to come out to both my primary care physician and the attending physician, when I asked to have my blood drawn for my testosterone level. I waited for the expected for the condemnation or judgement, but got none. Just a non-committal "uh huh". But, I have to go back to have some more tests done and it's mainly for my blood sugar, and my driver's license application.

I haven't told my counselor or my orthopedic doctor or his assistant yet. But I will. I can expect the same thing out of all three. But my orthopedic doctor's assistant seems to be a pretty cool lady.

Hugs!

Sebastian

I have only met my physician once (I recently changed), and although I did not come right out and say I was a lesbian, I did say that I had a partner and engaged in sexual activity but did not need Birth control.

Sebastian,

May I ask why you needed your hormones tested?

Hi Kacey,

I'm ok

I don't telling you at all. Along with my blood sugar tests I wanted to get my testosterone levels checked because I'm taking steps to begin raising my testosterone level. My testosterone level is normal.

I needed to see where they were because I wanted to begin testosterone therapy. My picture on the website doesn't show it, but Lesli's seen it and so has Angel. I do have noticeable facial hair. A moustache and now, I'm letting my beard grow in. I know it could be for a variety of medical reasons as to why the hair growth is taking place. I'm just attributing it to heredity. My aunties and Nanna, had moustaches, but my aunties had their's waxed off. They also had body hair, ie, hairy legs and arms.

But I chose not to do that painful stuff to myself. I have to keep myself well groomed, it really isn't a hard thing to do. I make sure that I keep my moustache trimmed and my beard as well.

Now who wants to be around a guy with his face looking wild. There are some instances that I will shave my beard. But, since a certain someone loves me scruffy;-) I will trim it to a certain level. I wanted to build up my body some more. I already have an athletic body. I do have a head start by me doing yoga and eating in a healthy way. (or at least I have, since my last physical. lol!).

Please ask more question.

Hugs!

Sebastian

"Are you 'out' to your physician and does it make it easier or harder to talk to him or her?"

Well, that's a very interesting question. I am going to the gynecologist next wed for my yearly pap test and have been thinking about if I should tell her or not. It's an all female practice, I am sure they have their share of lesbian patients.

My primary care physician doesn't know, I don't see a reason to tell her.

I have a question: If I am in a monogamous lesbian relationship is there a health concern that I should worry about that would make it necessary for any of my docs to know my sexual preferences?

I can't think of why she (my ob/gyn) needs to know - but I certainly will answer any questions she asks with honesty.

Well Sandra,

I am not a health professional and I am sure Pam may have more insight on this. However I personally feel that if you are sexually active whether with a man or a woman, monogamous or not, your Doctor should know.

Yes, I am out to my doctor. I think if I didn't feel comfortable being completely honest with my physician, it would be a sign that I needed to find a different doctor.

Just my opinion,
Jules

Sheila and I had the same doctor for a few years and introduced ourselves as partners. I now go to the Veterans Hospital and my doctors have met Sheila and know her as my partner.
I think it is easier to talk to them.
Great topic!
