While I certainly think if someone does something of historical importance it should be included in school teaching, just like we talk about Black Civil Rights Leaders, and Women Suffragettes, I don't think there has to be some major push to make the Stonewall riots a priority.
I agree that brining up one's sexual preference is unnecessary in most cases. ie., "Dr. John Smith, a homosexual, found the cure for the common cold". Instead it should read "Dr. John Smith's research
I think the small battles sometimes do more for the war than the large one. The GOP successfully used the gay marriage issue as a wedge in the last elections. I think that when day to day reading includes gay accomplishments in a matter of fact way, it becomes....less of an issue, and more of a "matter of fact" thing..and helps the next generations to live in a world where the existance of gays, and their contributions is celebrated side by side with the existance of every other group.
And how nice that gays and their contributions are something positive for our kids to see, instead of the 3 drag queens and 2 leather daddy's that the news programs show for Pride. Heaven forbid they show the whole spectrum of people attending...no....use shock value. I'd love for the exposure of the gay community to be more than what the local stations perceive as ratings getters....
Oh I agree with you there Jo. I dont think that it would be right at all to hide us under a rug in textbooks or anywhere else! I am all for being out and being included. I guess I just felt that right now we have so many other battles to fight that this one might not be the highest priority. If we win the war then I think naturally we will be included in the future if that makes sense..
*I have to pick on you here ,this is too cute to me (not to change the topic of your post my dear......)...you said I agree with you there Jo.... Okay you know you are married when ...you see her name and well think of me like that... and I have one more you are know "you are married when"... we were driving thru GA headed home from AL(my buddy and I ) I called my sadie cause they had these pina coldas with ice cream there that I hadn't had at myrtle in like a year...so my sadie says "you aren't going to drink one and drive are you?" I told my buddy at work the next day ,you know you are married when ....lol....and well everyone knows I would not trade that for the world, sorry about getting off topic everyone !!!
This issues are so complex..and sometimes, it seems like there are a million small battles at once, and it looks easier to just fightt he "big fight"..so to speak. But then, I look at this board, and others like it, and the truth is, we fight those small battles every day, simply by being seen and heard as normal, ordinary people, who live and love and laugh and cry and bleed and care and work and play...

I agree Beth we do have a long way to go. Wouldn't it be great if everyone could be included? I have a good feeling that everyone will.

LOL Ok! You got me!
Yes sometimes I do mixed you two up hehe, but as you said, its a good thing. I guess I think of you both as one unit, much like TiNG and I.
Your other story is cute too. TiNG will tell you, I often get over protective of her too at times.
