>does every book have to “feel” real to you? *grin*
Well if it doesn't feel real then its to hard to hold on to and read! *giggle
But seriously, for me the story doesn't have to be 'real' for it to engage me but the writing does. I can't read dry, monotone authors whose style just doesn't catch me. Its like the current book we are reading Dance of the Dissident Daughter.
I never read any of Mrs Kidd’s books so it’s good to know you like reading this book. :-)
Pammie, I’m glad you did answered. Actually, even though I might ask one person a question, I’m always hopeful others will join in on the subject/issue/discussion. Each time I put my statement/questions/musing on the board, I'm alway hopeful to have others join me, even someone “stealing” another’s name, title and location because she’s too lazy, easy, hazy to get a telephone of her own! ;-)

Fiction = authentic? *L* How ironic??? Leap of faith? If characters and situations have to feel authentic, does that mean you don’t enjoy science fiction/fantasy books that deals with dragons and fairies for example from the pen of Anne McCaffrey? Don’t you think just limiting to books with “authenticity” that feels real to you might close you from others viewpoints they are writing to convey? Aren’t books suppose to open you up to consider different viewpoints/experiences/expressions and discover new ways of living either to improve or enjoy life?
Of course, the “you” is meant to generalize. :-)
I love science fiction/fantasy.
