I found this blog while surfing for information on American Idol contestant Mandisa's statement before one of her songs that lumped "lifestyle" in with addiction: http://popsurfing.blogspot.com/

I had to read the quote twice to have an opinion about it. I guess there are some conservative Catholics that would like to think the Jesus Christ wasn't married to a prostitute. They would like to keep him as divine as possible, but the one thing that my brother and sister Catholics don't see, or don't acknowledge, Christ was also half human.

But my thoughts are, if he did marry Mary Magdeline then he found a woman that he loved no matter what her past was.

Getting to know someone(and not always in the biblical sense, if you'll forgive the pun, lol) and having them tell you about their past, and loving them all the more and not caring about how other people say about them. Seeing the good in them and forgiving them for being a human being is a deep thing.

Of course, being a human being yourself, and having them get to know you, and love you all the more, and not caring about what other people say about you and having them forgive you for being a human being is a deep thing also.

It's all yin and yang.

Sebastian

I think he is incorrect to say: "I know the Catholic Church has problems with gay people"

The Catholic Church doesn't have a problem with the people, it's fornication that is the sin. I asked our parish priest once. He gave the the famous line, "love the sinner, hate the sin." Fornication is the sin. If the powers that be condone gay marriage then in their eyes we are no longer fornicating, therefore, they would have to "accept" us.

BUT, that's off topic....I disagree with another part of his comment: "I thought this was absolutely proof that Jesus was not gay."

I'm not Catholic so I don't have as deep of an understanding of the issue that Catholics have with Jesus having human characteristics. I found a beautiful song about Jesus and Mary Magdalene last year, and I thought I would share the lyrics with you. I hope it doesn't offend anyone, and I apologize in advance if it does. I do think it shows true love between two people.

Like I said to Sebastian, I don't think I have enough knowledge about Catholics to comment adequately on the quote, but I thought looking at it from a different perspective was interesting.

I snickered at your comment "the thought of him as a sexual being is just weird to me....it's like contemplating your parents sex life - too weird." :-)
