Hello ALL!

TiNG and I attended a few screenings yesterday of Lesbian Films as part of a LGBT Film Festival to kick off Pride week here.

Afterwards we started talking about Lesbians in Film in general and thought it would make for a good discussion this week.

Our "OutTakes" reel queer film festival is on in the City at the moment. I have read the booklet with the film outlines and reviews and it seems that the percentage of gay male to lesbian films is about 60:40 tho there are quite a few films that would appeal to most. Haven't been to any yet though and it only runs 3 more days!

Hi, Caly, and thanks for your very pointed questions. I'll have difficulty answering them for I haven't seen any films of the nature you speak of, so can't voice much of an opinion. I can say this much...that I don't think lesbian and gay people should be discriminated against, for we are all human beings under the eyes of God.

I recall when I was cleaning house (my late profession) for a Jewish family who had a female caregiver helping out with the husband who had suffered a stroke and needed the extra care for him, especially eating, dressing and bathing.

She worked the same time as I did, and we were pretty good friends. When I found myself with an extra ticket to a concert, I asked if she'd like to go with me and she jumped at the chance. I had her follow me home, where she, my DH and myself had supper, then the two of us left for the concert. (DH was disabled and couldn't manage the crowds or the seating arrangements.)

It was late when we got home, we had her spend the night with us,

Thanks for stopping by and posting, Geeliz. Thanks so much for your support, and what you said is so true. What's important is who the person is on the inside and not their sexual orientation.

Hugs

I have been trying to figure out what the hell I am. Am I a lesbian or just a very confused girl in love with another girl? Because of this I have looked for every movie I could find of lesbian interest.

http://afterellen.com/ is a fantastic resource.

I might get flamed for saying this, but I believe we (for this statement I am including my confused little self) are proportionately represented in mainstream media. Gays/Lesbians do not make up a huge percent of the population so I do not see a problem with us not being in every single show on every network.

I would like to see BETTER QUALITY gay and lesbian movies. I kid you not... I have watched a ton... and most sucked!

Top Ten:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
South of Nowhere
Floored by Love
South of Nowhere
But I am a Cheerleader
The Truth About Jane
D.E.B.S.
Transamerica
Brokeback Mountain
Imagine Me and You

(I have not seen The L Word because my parents refuse to get Showtime)
