Wasn’t home to watch the program. Just from reading the transcript, I got the impression this discussion is about fixing the homosexuals. The gays are on the program to defend themselves while the anti-gays are on the program to show how generous they are in letting the gays keep their life while trying to exterminate their lives.

It seems like same old, same old discussion. It doesn’t matter which programs these two camps go on to air their views, nothing seem to be solved or agreed upon. No progress in full acceptance. Its still seem like “we won’t stone you but you still have to sit in the balcony of the church” attitude.

On the positive note, at least they are talking in public civilly. (at least I hope it was a civil meeting on the show)

That was a very interesting read, although frustrating too. Wish we could have seen the program. It's good that all sides are coming together to begin talking.

Thanks for sharing!

One way or another, that attitude always presents itself. Hate the sin, love the sinner. I hate people who cut me down as they smiel in my face. Ask these same folk if they support the war, and how they reconcile this with good, proper Christian beliefs. Put them on the defensive.

Where do you go
When the wind doesn't blow
Are you still like the trees
Only bend with a breeze

ahhh, but i think that's where the problem is; I don't think you can put anyone on a defensive that feels they are right. they just think *you* haven't seen the light yet and with diligent work on you, you might come to see the right way. So they never have to questions their belief/convictions. Just how to go about getting you to think the way they do. Make you realize you should hate the sin so you won't act upon your feelings and they end up feeling superior for making you do what they want while you feel like committing suicide because you can't be who you are.

Anyway, even if they are on a defense, it's usually being defensive about something else. Somehow, being evasive is a good skill to have when you want to convert the mass to your thinking.

I’m glad you got hope. You should never give up on hope even when you think it’s useless at the moment. In regards to the Third Message, anyone piped up and suggest the bible is being misread or changed for the convenience of the modern time? I find any changes make the traditionalists very nervous. Oh, about the glacier speed, did you hear the ice is melting quicker than usual? I heard it on NPR's Science Friday. ;-)

I do have a question for you and anyone who felt like you do.
Why do you feels “SO desperate for hope where Christianity is concerned”? If you need religion in your life, why not join one that is accepting of you?

I would love to sit there and watch you have your "good sport" with them. *L* It will be like watching a master at work.

I agree, not many would survive a debate with a Reiki master or any other spiritual/religious masters that are highly trained. But I do believe the higher echelon of the Christianity do sit down with other spiritual and religious leaders and have insightful discussions. Maybe stars circled around everybody heads, not just from smoking either! ;-)

Ahhh, I wonder what life would be like without religion. As John Lennon wrote in his song. Ok, so everybody is playing nice. *smile*

I wonder if a few drinks will make it into a pink elephant with a pink tutu and everybody can help push it out the foyer.

"everyone knows is there but no one can find the words to talk about."

No one can find the words to talk about…hmmmm…how did we find words to talk about an end of childhood and beginning of adulthood…how did we find the words to talk about a loss of job…how did we find words to talk about family illness. I was watching a morning show and there was this family that has the genes for stomach cancer. 11 members of the family decided to take their stomach out to avoid certain death. I wonder how they started the talk to agree on this decision together. Its incredible with everything else going on in our world, the war, hurricane and mother nature cleaning house; we still can’t decide how to talk with our families on our homosexuality. We want to make them comfortable and they want to make us comfortable by not talking and yet we’re all uncomfortable. When you find out the secrets, Prof. I hope you’ll tell me too. ;-)

On the bright side, all of you are still in the same room. :-)
