Question of the Week for 7/10-7/16

With a 15 yo in the house in addition to a dramatic 8.5 yo and sometimes whiny 4.5 yo, life has been pretty hectic lately. I'm learning a lot about parenting a teenager, that's for sure! Caly and I have been talking a lot about the changes he is going through, so we thought life as a teenager might be a good topic to discuss here.
What was your life like as a teenager? Specifically, were you given a lot of freedom or were your parents strict? Did you rebel? If you were out as a lesbian or contemplating your sexual orientation, how did that aspect of your life affect your teenage experience?
Looking forward to reading about your experiences!
Hugs

My teen years were probably pretty good by most standards.

My teen years were pretty quiet until I was a senior in high school.

I was given way too much freedom. Plus I was just wild. I used to drink alot. On my 16th birthday I was with a drunk driver and we were in an accident that changed my life. Sooo... I was the opposite with my son (who is now 20) and sometimes too strict. But he turned out great! (o:

Glad you had a good experience, Ginger. Those are such critical years in a person's life IMO. Thanks for answering!
Thanks for replying, Molly! I can understand how making a move like that would be very difficult especially in the third year of high school. My parents were planning to move about an hour away right before my senior year, but I had some important activities that I wanted to be involved in, so we ended up selling our house and living in a townhouse for that year.
I'm sorry you had such a negative experience, Tee, but at least you got it out of your system before becoming an adult. I never did anything like that at all as a teen and found myself wanting to rebel at 35. It's a lot harder to do that when you have kids!
LOL about copping a feel with your friend! My first lesbian experience involved my next door neighbor when I was in middle school. We played house, and one of us pretended to be the dad and one the mom. We fooled around a bit, and I remember really enjoying the experience!
I'm glad you shared so much, Cat! There is definitely
I'm so glad you came out of the accident ok, Michelle! That really must have been quite a wake-up call. I see myself being strict with my DDs (now almost 5 and 9) as they become older. It is definitely a fine line to walk. Thanks for answering!
