The Elegant Gathering of the White Snows. by Kris Radish
I hope some of you got to read this! I thought it was wonderful and its why these book

I loved this book. The title would not have grabbed me either. My community has a neighborhood book exchange, however, and I happened upon it there.
The relationships between the women are wonderful. I am fortunate to have such relationships in my own life, the kind of women friends that I can bare my soul to, share with, cry with. The idea of just walking like that is appealing to me as well, on so many levels.
The dynamic between the woman were great, but the fascianation by the general public, and even more, the manner in which their families gathered round and kept quiet appealed to me as well. In this day and age where everyone seems to be begging for time in the limelight, the fact that the families were unwilling to use the situation for their own gain. The women themselves weren't looking for attention, just traveling a journey together, and sharing in the way that women do.
I've read other books by the same author since reading this one, but this remains my favorite. Dancing Naked at the Edge of Dawn is a great runner up. She does capture womens experiences.
Hi S! Thanks for sharing.
I agree it was so cool the way the families of these women let them have their journey in Peace. I could see my mother telling the newspapers I was some kind of nut LOL
I'm only about a third of the way through the book, but I have enjoyed it so far. I think the depictions of the women's relationships and the stories that each has to tell are so true. There is a bond that women share that is amazing.
One thing this book has confirmed for me so far is that some tragic/life-changing events can take a lifetime to process and overcome. I still have issues with my divorce, and it happened almost two years ago. Now that I have Caly in my life, I am totally happy and fulfilled. But it's taking longer than I thought to totally move on, for many reasons.
I regret in some ways that I never developed the kinds of bonds these women share with my own friends. If I could go back and do things differently, I would let myself open up to others more.
I don't think I will ever want to do something like these women are doing. I've made my journey through darkness into light, and it took a really long time to get there. Now it's time to settle down, put the past behind me, and enjoy my life with Caly and the girls. I am confident that my "issues" will sort themselves out.
A few days late and a few dollars short. It’s been a while since I read this book. I had to go back and flip through the pages to refresh my memory on who did what, when and where. I do remember this book to be emotionally draining. Another thing I remember about this book is that there is a similar theme with the previous books we read.
So I decide to do something fun. T2 asked if LL is something like the Circle of Trees in the previous post. I thought I would take the characters’ best part and apply to each lady in LL. A game of mixed and matched. I’m sure you’ll have different choices for the mixed and matched game but here’s mine. Of course there’re lots of ladies on this board that would apply to these characters. I’m just going to the ones that post enough to spring to mind without going over the roll calls! ;-)
Wise and emotionally strong – Alice/ Pammie and Loubie. Sometime their posts are insightful.
Devoted and inspirational to her two daughters – JJ/ T
Travel for love, worldly – Chris/ Nony and Ginny
Forgiven – Gail/ T2. Hopefully there is reconciliation with mom in the future.
Sandy/ Jo and Ven and Court
Found her peace – Janice/ Kim
Taking a hold of her life – Susan/ Beth and Jo.
Mary/ nelle – Isn’t it obvious? *S*
Never too late eastie!
I am only on chapter 3,

Last night I read the chapter about Sandra, the woman in the book who was very sexually promiscuous and ended up settling down with a woman. I won't reveal what happened to their relationship in case you are still reading/haven't read it. But, one thing she drove home was that she wished she had followed her heart sooner. Her story is very apropos for all of us who have followed our hearts and perhaps changed our lives drastically to be who we really are.
I feel like I have been on a special journey for the last few years to find who I really am, and I believe I will continue on this journey for the rest of my life as I continue to grow as a mother, daughter, lover, partner, and friend.
Cool you found the words!! I LOVE this song! The tune is awesome and the words are soo true.
