Question of the Week 7/31
21
Mon, 07-31-2006 - 7:32am

Morning ALL!

I don't know about you, but I Hate the election process. I don't mean the democratic process of course I mean the 5 million ugly paper road signs that litter our lawns, and the constant back biting ads that fill our TV and make me wonder if anyone is worth voting for...

My question this week is not about your political views but rather

"What would you do to change the Election Process?"

You've got my vote, lauriedav. I would never want to be president and have to clean up all these messes that those past have gotten us into. Where to begin? You can have that worry and for once a president would actually earn their pay. I believe that they should let everyone vote in the primaries including those who call themselves Independent. Interesting misuse of the word. That's all I have to say on this ridiculous subject. You need to have a lot of money to be elected president and I don't understand why someone would want to.

I knew that having friends in high places would work for me. You never know who is going to add some help until you go vote. I will write your name in when I vote for president. Who knows?

How about changing the date? Why does it has to be on Tuesday? Why not move the Election Day to Saturday and Sunday. One thing I hate is to take the time off so I’ll get to the booth in time to vote. Voting is a privilege but it’s also a right to a citizen. Why not move to the weekend so we don’t have to use our vacation or sick time to vote. People can choose to vote either Sat or Sun whichever their schedule allowed.

I think doing away with the whole Electoral College would make the biggest difference in the electoral process. We have the technology to be able to actually count the votes, so why don't we do so and get the politicians we voted for in the first place.
