I don't care for those signs either. And I don't think they influence me. If I see a sign for a candidate I already like, I think "yay" -- if I see a sign for someone I don't like, I think "ick." But they don't sway me one way or another. And if I see a sign for someone I don't know, I just think "Hmmm....don't know him/her." I will abstain from voting if I don't know enough about the candidates. I refuse to randomly vote for people just because I have heard or seen their names.
Often I will judge a candidate based upon the lyrical beauty of his or her name and the design and color scheme of his or her sign. When a sign or name strikes me as being particulary beautiful, and I see that sign many times on my way through town, I can't help but propel myself into the voting booth to mark their name on the ballot.
Okay. Not really. I research the candidates and vote for the one I feel will do the least damage. Although, there is nothing wrong with the promotion of your candidate. Maybe it will sway a vote or two for the right person. The problem with signs and ads and the like is, no matter what, they will exist, and if you don't join in on the game, you could very well lose in the end.
Ugh! They seem to get bigger and more plentiful every year!
But someone, somewhere must be influenced or there would not be so much money spent. It is kind of frightening to realize what some people base their vote on! So they have to keep their names out there, I guess.

"How likely are you to be influenced by all the road signs promoting a candidate?
*Not one bit.

My question today?
I totally agree, gbud! I usually know who I'm going to vote for way before the elections occur.
