Lately everytime I look around the same people are the ones organizing things and speaking out and taking a stand, whether it be a political issue, human rights, or even the PTO.

I will stand up for senior citizens and the aged.

Yes, I look around me and I sometimes feel that I ought to do more - not just by being outspoken, but more hands on work for the causes I believe in.
For me, personally, I first had to deal with my personal issues first, get things in order. The good news is that I'm arriving at a place in my life where I am able to talk more about what happened to me and am more prepared to do more active work in real life on behalf of women's rights and sexual abuse.
I guess, also, for years it was easy to take a step back and count on other people to do the advocacy when those same people are you close relatives or close family friends... but we all have something to contribute, whether it's in the field, through advocacy, by contributing funds, by our support or our vote.
>>> "What issue or major turn of events in this country or the world or even your kid's school, would make you stand up and fight for what you believe in no matter the cost?" <<<
The issue I would take a stand on and fight for without ceasing - without regret - is the issue of morality. What has happened to it? It scares me to think that today's youth will be our future leaders.
I think my issue is the environment -- especially fighting development in remote and fragile areas. I sometimes think we will not rest until every inch of the country is under concrete! I do often write letters and sign petitions on environmental issues.
My DH, I think, should have been a civil engineer because he just loves to watch buildings, roads, shopping centers, etc. going up. I am usually deeply saddened by those same projects because of what was destroyed to place them there.
