Find a Conversation

I did just recently...more out of curiosity. It was really cool to find out who matched me. Only thing was in order to actually be able to have or get contacted by anyone, one must subscribe, I think, for $50- $90 for whatever type of subcription you want. I "winked " at a few...two winked at me (smile). Fun.Then I froze thinking, "what the h*ll am I doing ? I'm not ready for this ." Or at least I don't think so. I think that it's just the companionship I miss so much. And wow, someone actually "winked" at me !
I am not normally a needy type of woman. Pretty self-reliant.My last partner made 20-30 x's what I was making for a living and it took me a while to Trust her Giving and to allow myself to recieve...anything...from her.
Ahhhh, to dream. There is this one gal on there...yogiiibear...wherever you are....I'd really like to draw you. *sigh*

Last March, I did a free trial of Match.com. It was okay. But, I have met women online and have not had the most optimum experiences one would like to have. So, going into it, I was not quite sure I wanted to try it out. I didn't stick with it and cancelled before the free trial was over.
Match.com though is fairly thorough. And, as you mentioned, you can send a winks (electronic flirtations). I had several winks even from out of state women, which I found interesting and surprising.
In my opinion, online dating works best for gregarious personality types. I tend to be shy and reserved. And, I like to play little skits in my head prior to meeting someone. I scare easily too. But, for someone who is gregarious, dating online might not be as cumbersome as it has been for me. I do better in social gatherings where I can mingle and choose to converse with which I feel comfortable. I’m good with auras.
I’ve tried free online dating sites, Match.com, and PlanetOut. I recommend you do a free trial prior to subscribing to any paid service. Also, read thoroughly the subscription plan and how you are charged, plus how you can unsubscribe. READ THE FINE PRINT. I cannot recall what it was exactly but there was something about Match.com and the opt out (unsubscribing) policy that I wasn’t fond of. So, that’s my main advice, read the fine details of any subscription plan.
Best of luck to you and welcome to the board!
Good question, Designergrl! I don't have any experience with dating sites, but I do have experience meeting the love of my life online! We met at this board.
Mac_dreamy gave you great advice...and I'll echo what she said about reading the fine print. I know several people who have had very successful online relationships. You might also see if there is a lesbian social group in your area. Caly and I found one online in our area. It's a great way to hang out and have companionship without the pressure of dating.
Good luck!
Well, just to keep myself from obsessing, I cancelled my "free" subscription. They kept sending me all these "teasers"...altho' I did get a number of winks and emails, but thought, what if I paid $50 and that's all I got from the whole thing? Not that I couldn't enjoy having an online friendship, emailing back and forth, etc... But ultimately it seemed that's what I was paying for.
I signed up at the Planetout.com as well. There must not be a lot of people who do it in my area becasue I got 25-30 matches with Match.com, with Planet Out I got two!
At any rate, I already figured I'd start my socializing again via my church The Center for Spiritual Living here in Seattle. I have not been in years but I am going tomorrow. They also have a lesbian social group and a few just Empowering women's groups. Sounds cool. Wish me luck ! I haven't been out in a setting like that in a long time.
Blessings,
