Question of the Week 12/18
Going to be a busy week for all of us I am sure.
Thought I would keep the question simple.
Do you have a favorite Christmas Memory to share?
and a quick second question... Where are you spending Christmas Day this year?

Favorite Christmas memory .....I got engaged on Christmas Day many years ago and of course that memory will stay with me forever.
We don't live near any family so we will spend Christmas Day at home enjoying the company of each other and we are looking forward to the big turkey dinner with trimmings, gift opening and just enjoying the day.

Oh, that is so sweet! What a special memory! Have a very Merry Christmas!
Favorite Christmas memory:
I was very young and my family had decided to take off to my grandma’s house (dad’s mom) for Christmas. My grandma lived in another state. The weather was quite bit cooler there. I can remember it getting cooler as we traveled and I kept my bicentennial toboggan on my head. We didn’t arrive in the city where she lived until late night. I remember being so exhilarated over staying up past 8 pm. We stopped off at a Krispy Kreme. It was first time I had ever been to a Krispy Kreme. Once inside, instantly the smell of fresh donuts and coffee mingled and ran up my nostrils filling me. I looked out the window behind me and saw the dark sky speckled with bright stars. It felt magical.
Once we arrived to my grandma’s house we quickly went off to bed. The next morning I remember seeing my relatives. One aunt I was very fond of. I would smile and giggle at her. She made me very nervous. I always thought she was so beautiful and would run to where she sat and peek over at her from behind the wall. She would smile at me and call me a nickname. I felt this rush and couldn’t take it, so I would run away with an incredible adrenaline surge.
That Christmas, one of my relatives gave me a twenty dollar bill. I remember looking at the money knowing I had not ever held so much money before. I immediately thought I was rich. It was the bicentennial, I was just the wee age of 5 and I was rich with my twenty dollars.
p.s.- I still have that bicentennial toboggan

Very cool that you still have the hat!
Ahh midnight mass memories.
What a great memory, mac_dreamy! It's pretty amazing that you remember so many details from that age. It must have been a very, very special Christmas.
