Hi all, my name is Jen. My partner Daniella and I are expecting our first baby in July 2007. We are so excited and have been through a lot to get to this point. I am carrying this one and once I finish with maternity leave, she will be a stay at home mom. I am nervous about money issues but know we will swing it. Just wanted to see if there is anyone out there going through the same thing or has gone through or plans to go through it?

First, welcome and congratulations! Being a mom is so rewarding! I have two DDs, and they are a lot of fun. I used to be married, so they are my and XH's children. I'm not in quite the same situation as you are.

Money is definitely an issue, but if you are able to have at-home care, that will help a lot.

Yes, there are several here on the board who have/are in your situation. Hopefully, they'll speak up!

Good luck and welcome, again!

thanks for all the welcomes and hugs! we had our 12 week ultrasound last night and it went well. we saw the little bean and now it finally looks like a baby! at the 8 week ultrasound it really looked like a gummi bear! Heartbeat was great too! I have not told my boss yet but will have to start planning that because I should start to show in the next month. I am out at work and my boss is very supportive so I am not worried. He even helped me get the company to extend medical benefits to cover domestic partners---huge move for the company that is a US sub of Japanese company. Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!!

Isn't it incredible to see that tiny beating heart?! It truly is a miracle. Sounds like you have a great network of support and love. You'll be a great mom!

Happy Holidays to you and Daniella!
