I had my yearly physical recently and got a clean bill of health and good results on my tests.ThumbsUp.gif Got me to thinking though about what we can and should do to take care of ourselves better.

My question this week is "What do you do to take care of yourself? and what could you do better?" bigthink.gif

Hi Cat!

I'm situated in the United Kingdom, though I'm Scandinavian originally and grew up in Connecticut. And if that's not enough to confuse you, you're not paying attention!! LOL

I do remember your name I think, it was quite a while ago! I posted an intro in the Roll Call in the Fun and Games folder!

And yes, I hate the taste of aloe vera, but it's very good for me, so I persist. The company I distribute for does them flavoured, thank goodness, but I had a leftover plain one, so that's what I'm drinking at the moment, for my sins! LOL

Hugs,

Chris

Hi,

I'm glad you have a clean bill of health!

What I do to take better care of myself...

I take vitamins (multi, garlic, fish oil, C, E, Glucosamine, Magnesium, and Chromium Picolinate). I workout everyday.

What I could do better...

I could eat better. I try to eat good. And, I do well at times. This week I've done a good job because I've eaten lots of fruits and veggies. I need to eat more fish. I think good health is more than what you eat and how much you workout too. So there are many areas that I could improve upon. I will not list them all.

Thanx Chris, for clearling that up. And yes, Aloe juice does taste like Antiseptic ! (bleh!) Hey, you know what actually (I think) tastes better and gives yout tons of energy as well ? Take a couple of stalks of celery, some kale and spinach leaves(or you just do one of the last two greens, add it to an 8 oz. glass of red ruby (or pink?) grapefruit juice to a blender and a bit of ice and puree. It'll look mostly dark green(and some might go, ewwww!, but get over it!)....and it might be a bit thick(that can be changed by adding more grapefruit juice) and drink it up ! It is really sweet and *I* think it has the taste of bananas !

And SI, as a recovering addict/alcoholic, it took a while, but I now have 15 plus years of clean and sober time, but it was a tough 15 years. Now I just Eat to cope. (smile)It seems most women are on some sort of "maintenance" huh ? Congratulations on your efforts !!

ODAAT!

Well, I know what I should do, but actually doing it is another thing! Having high blood pressure after my second pregnancy was a big eye opener. I had been so healthy all my life, and I didn't expect to have health problems so young. But, I started exercising and eating better and lost some weight. Last year I put it all back on but started exercising again in the spring and lost some, but not enough, weight. Eating well is a constant struggle, but I try. Getting to the gym is another hard one, especially having kids and working full-time.

Cutting out carbs and sugar is really what I should be focusing on in addition to exercise. My dad was diagnosed prediabetic last year, and I know that I'm at a higher risk for getting heart disease due to my body shape.

I don't get sick very often, though, and I get physicals every year.
