Ok, I'm in the dark, since I don't watch Gray's Anatomy, what happened?

Hey Sebastian,
Here's a link to the story: http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/ah3596.shtml?
Basically what happened is that Isaiah Washington called TR Knight a "faggot" but then claimed on the Golden Globes that he didn't. TR Knight is gay and felt like he was outed by Washington. Then Washington came back and apologized and said he does have issues he needs to work on.
Anyway, there's a pretty big backlash about it. People want Washington fired from the show, and he's not getting along with all of the other cast members.
Huh? It's obviously not made it across the pond, whatever it was!
Our biggest news story at the moment is the goings on in the Big Brother house on TV. It's good to know what our priorities are!

Chris

Hey Chris,
Here's what I posted to Sebastian about it:

Hi Ting,
Well, it goes to show that the ones that have homophobic issues are the ones that are the most closeted, or they have issues of acceptance of other peoples differences. We all have the same issues of accepting people, sometimes it's obvious and sometimes it's hidden and disguised as something else.
Or, it seems that when someone is being their true selves, someone is always going to feel uncomfortable. You might say that that person is looking at that person as a mirror, and they are running from themselves, or they may be jealous because that person can be at ease with themselves and live in peace with everyone else, and they can't. Even the most open-minded person can have deep seated issues that they are having a hard time facing. And unfortunately, everyone around them have to deal with their immature attitudes.
Hopefully, just like the Michael Richards issue of calling the black members of the audience "niggers" that this will continue to show prejudice, and racism as it is: evil.
No amount of appology is going to change what was said. But I do believe and hope that active change is in the wings.
Thanks,
Sebastian

I agree with you, Sebastian. Unfortunately, some people just can't find productive ways to deal with their prejudices and biases. We all have them but recognizing them and trying to let go of them is what's important. I'm sure TR Knight will never forget this. I am hopeful because people are not focusing on TR being gay but instead on Washington's homophobia. We've come a long way from all the buzz and hooplah that went on when Ellen DeGeneres came out on tv.
This is actually the first I've heard about it.
