I enjoy flying, go figure right? lol

Seriously, it is beyond me why anyone would try to fly out of an area when bad weather is looming? We should all know how to look at the weather, so why in the world do people insist on keeping their flight plans? Heck, I would cancel my flight and forget it! Go back home, reschedule or find another mode of transportation. I always/always have a back up plan. If I ran an airport I would close it down period during bad weather. Before they had field clearing machines that's what they did. Smart people stayed home and pilots said no way it's too dangerous at this time. People really respected the pilots opinions too! Back in the day when people respected the career.

Security and more security is necessary. Prior to 911 no one took it seriously in our country. I can tell you that other countries did. Try flying out of Europe and you would have been shocked over their level of security. America is just a bit late catching up with the times. Additionally, since 911, who wouldn't want everyone to be checked. I think about the horror and helplessness that our fellow human beings must have felt, knowing that their time was at an end. If it was my son on the plane I would be doing a ton of praying that the airline personnel did a great job screening everyone.

I read a post about customer service. You can't have it all. It cost money to train the additional security personnel, upgrade and add equipment, insurance increases etc. etc. etc....something has to give somewhere. All I want is a seat, a pillow and good night Irene wake me up when we arrive! Of course I flew military flights and there was no service! I would prefer staying wide awake with people flying butt naked! woo hoo! I also travel very light and take one bag with my valuables going in my back pack on board. I leave all toys at home. lol Can buy new ones when I get where I'm headed! That's always fun to shop for.......

Well now, a question close to my own heart! I've been flying in airplanes regularly since i was 6 months old!

I'm all for safety on airplanes, but some of the new rules and regulations make me laugh. The one about not taking any sharp implements on board is fair enough, but they've been taking TWEEZERS off people...I mean come on...what can you POSSIBLY do with a pair of tweezers? If you don't take this plane to XYZ i'm going to pluck your eyebrows badly?? And they stopped supplying the little metal knives and forks with the meals...you couldn't cut up CHICKEN with those things, they certainly weren't dangerous! The plastic ones we were eventually given instead weren't worth trying to cut spaghetti with!

What threw me the most after the latest scare in the summer (and I was abroad when it happened) was the sudden restriction on the SIZE of the handluggage you could take. They pretty much halved it for a while, once the immediate restrictions were lifted. The fluids, fine, not a problem...but if handluggage size X by Y by Z is safe, then why wouldn't handluggage that's 3 inches bigger be safe??

In the past couple of weeks, British Airways have changed their check-in luggage restrictions. Not for safety, just for "ease of handling". They still have the weight restriction (which will be reduced in future), but now you can only check in ONE piece of luggage per person, even if two pieces are still less than the weight allowed. More than one piece, and you pay extra charges. A LOT of extra charges.

Ryanair in the meantime, who are one of the European low-cost airlines, have brought in charging extra for ANY checkin luggage.

Generally, I have no problems with the customer services or the security measures. It's when they go overboard that it bugs me. But so far I haven't had anything confiscated, either!

Hi, named Eastie.

Saw your tickerfactory. Would you mind sharing your experience on R Family cruise? I was looking into that but still not sure if it's worth it compared with other cruise lines. Thanks in advance, if you do share your experience.
Thanks for reading my request if you want to keep your experience private. :-)

Maybe they want to re-create the experience of going down a snow covered hill on a cafeteria tray shouting with glee? Sorry, I digress...just thinking of my college years. ;-)

Airlines are subsidized by our federal government. You're right, it's expensive to run an airline, that's why the fed gov steps in when the air traffic controllers want to strick for more hires and less hours against the owners. (Reagan Years; Republicans=pro business) I just don't want to give up good customer service. I thought it was bundled in the fares they charged us to fly. JetBlue's owner seem to think so too.

I did check out the website and I liked it. But I also like to asked people that's been on cruises. One thing I don't like about forums is that I don't know if the poster worked for the company or not.

Here's an early wishing you and your family a great cruise trip!

Well I would like to get food on the plane and not have to pay for it. Or that it would at least taste good.
