Hey Everyone!

I thought we would take the topic in a different direction this week. Some of you don't have kids or partners but we ALL try to connect with each other.

So what about Gaydar?

I know it's there but I don't know if it's working or if I'm not letting it work on my behalf. *l* I seem to keep looking at the straight ones! *lopsided grin*

I tried to use it to make the microwave cook faster but that didn't work. I used it to beat the speed traps, it seem to be working on that. *l*

You think we're from another planet, like Venus, since we have this extra sensory thing to feel each other out? *grin*

Hi gang, well I love trying to determine if one is a dyke. I love to see one swagger, and the voice might be a bit deeper than most, or lesbians will look directly at you when talking to you (most I have met do, but that's not neccessarily a qualifier), short hair tells a lot but not neccessarily. (LOL...most women I meet north of Seattle have short hair and you'll find that a lot are just hard working farm girls...not neccessarily gay.)
They way we sit in a chair can be a give away, the way we carry ourselves.I think you can more lesbian women working in non-profits, shelters, contruction and as computer programmers.

I just found out my current gf used to date Robin, the great looking , light skinned African American anchor on Good Morning America. I Knew she was "family", but that confirmed it for me. (smile) Or perhaps someone will make a referrence to what they read that gives theri identity away.

HAH, I love my gaydar!

I had a (very straight, and very naive) lodger living here for a while, and I took great delight in teaching her all about gaydar! It took her a while, but at least she's able to spot the REALLY obvious ones now!

Me, sometimes I think I have more wishful thinking than gaydar when it comes to women...LOL But I do believe in gaydar, and I do spot likely candidates now and then. It makes me smile, but I've never been one for making contact with people in general unless there's a specific reason, so I don't meet them as such.

My main form of contact with other lesbians in an online chatroom on the ISP I'm on. I've been a regular for over 9 years now, and it's a good group of people, though as always there are some nuts! We have real life meets regularly too. It's fun, and it's giving me the chance to learn how to get to know people without the pressure of actually meeting them, as I'm violently shy in real life.

:o)

Hugs,

Chris

Hey Brandy.

My gaydar is no where near as good as TiNGs so this has always been hard for me.

My gaydar works about HALF the time. Just found out Suze Orman is family. I've loved her forever and she never pinged by gaydar.

I think my gaydar is right about 90% of the time. I can feel the "vibe" or aura or whatever it is about another person that lets me know he/she is gay. Sometimes I sit on the fence, thinking yeah I'll bet that person is gay, and sometimes my suspicions are confirmed. There are at least two other lesbians and one gay male who work in my building. I have suspicions about two other women. I love to find out that I'm right about a person!

Anyway, sometimes it's not even the stereotypical features that clue me in. It's the walk or how the person holds his/her head, stuff some people don't notice. I'm pretty observant.

We watched the new Fox show "Wedding Bells" last night, and it dealt with this issue as well as gay marriage in general. The husband-to-be was flaming on the surface but then explained that he had been raised by a gay father and his partner and was always around gay men. He'd adopted a lot of the characteristics--things like hand gestures, feminine voice, etc. But underneath all of that he was 100% heterosexual. It was a really good show. And it proved the point that you can't judge a book by it's cover! That's why my gaydar fails me sometimes.

I wonder sometimes if other people's gaydar ever goes off about me. I doubt it happens much. Except for the days when I don't wear make-up and my hair is particularly short, there's not much else to go on.
