Very timely question...Not only has our computer at home given us problems, but my computer at work went haywire this morning. I lost access to all our printers and couldn't create some files that I've been able to create for months. I finally got most everything to work again. Aaarrrgghhh, sometimes they are such a pain in the rear!
LOL well, right now I'm trying to get my brand new PDA to communicate with my 6month old computer (which are both of the same make) and I can't get them to talk to each other! The idea is supposed to be that i can download my Outlook calendar and contacts etc to the PDA so I always know where I'm supposed to be, but if I can't get the information onto the handheld, there's no point! GRRRR! And technical support, bless their little cotton socks, are less use than a chocolate teapot.
Otherwise, I generally get on well with computers. It's just when little details get in my way and I can't figure out what the problem is that I get frustrated, especially when I've run every check under the sun and then some!
Hope you get yours sorted out soon! I have friends in high (or should that be low???) places-they work for the company that made these items, who have promised to help out as soon as we can find a mutually convenient time! YAY! I have a tame geek! LOL
What drives me crazy about the computer is that at work viruses slow the output and sometimes my laptop will not logoff and shut down unless I let the battery run out. That can't be good for business!
What drives me crazy is that I've allowed this dang thing to become my primary means of communication, so now that it's down (yep...mine's on the fritz for the most part, too) I find myself a bit frustrated with wondering if I've missed anything important.
First off, I so agree with you Storm that now that I rely so heavily on the computer to communicate it is absolutely like being shut in a closet when the darn thing isnt working.
Well as is the case with cars and most things (including kids when you take them to the doctor LOL)
My laptop is so old that it is so slow and it doesn't even have an ethernet connection for me to connect to the internet so I have to use my roomates son's computer just to get online.
It frustrates me that the level of protection that is necessary to protect against viruses, spyware, etc. then also interferes with some of the things that I WANT to access -- like one of my favorite radio stations!
Also, I am such a technodummie that I really don't know what I am doing half the time! LOL!
What drives me crazy about computers is that I'm on them....all the time! My program has decided to teach lecture based courses online so I wake up 8am and am on the computer easy 8-10hrs a day. I had to get a different screen, tinted glasses and a desk lamp just to avoid going crosseyed. I want to go outside....I want to see the sun again...I miss the sun. Thank god for iTunes! It keeps me sane (relatively).
