I'll never have that pot of gold, but I do have an online savings account that automatically transfers a certain amount of money each month from checking.
I think my best tip would be to stop eating out so much. I'm not talking about the quick stop at the fast food joint (although that does add up), but going out for dinner two or three times a week at a moderately priced restaurant like Applebees or Outback.
I have friends that do this and tell me it is their favorite form of entertainment. In the same breath they tell me they can't seem to save money! Not to mention the calories. The serving sizes are always too big.
I was raised by frugal parents -- they had to be because money was a scarce commodity, although I must say we kids were never really aware of that until much later.
So I really don't have too much problem with money. The best thing I know is to put off buying those things you just "have" to have for a couple of weeks.
My biggest money-saving tip:
PROUD TO BE CO-CL ON THE FOLLOWING BOARDS
Alcohol Problems Board
LOL! I love my kids, but you're right, they can suck the money right out of you. ;-)

What the heck is a budget!!! LOL. I am so bad about spending money.

Anyway, that is my observation for the week.
