Sorry ladies, I am feeling just a bit sorry for myself this morning.......
Daronda

I know how you feel, Daronda, both about this and the Imus incident. Frankly, I'm already tired of hearing about him. His comments were absolutely deplorable and I can't believe what I'm hearing every time they replay it. But, I agree that we need to also focus in general on what others in the spotlight say in regard to gay rights. I do think that more people are being held to higher standards and being called on the carpet for what they say and do. Wasn't it the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US who said recently that he thinks homosexuality is immoral and he would never want to serve in the military next to a homosexual? People rose up in arms over that, and he came back with further explanation of his remarks, stating that they were his personal feelings. Another example is the senator who resigned over soliciting male pages in Congress.
We still have a long way to go, however. Every day I think about how different life is for me as a lesbian. C and I can't walk around in the mall holding hands or be out as a couple at DDs' schools. It is truly frustrating and gets to be draining.
Hey Ting,
I agree that we are making some progress but it sooo frustrating... why can't we just be us???
Brenda
Brenda, that reminds me of when I was younger and jogged through the streets of my small town wearing my running gear. The road crews or contruction workers always had something to say or just stare. I would always tell them to "take a picture, it lasts longer." Their looks would just crack me up.
Some day.......our children will laugh at the thought of having a discussion like this (I hope)
