I drink lots of water, because I retain so much during PMS. Sometimes, I will give in and eat whatever it is that I am craving, which is usually salt, which doesn't help in water retention.
A lot of chocolate, chips, soda, bloating and irritabilty! LOL. Well I try to eat healthfully all the time, but pms takes over sometimes (: I usually think twice before I speak that time of month...
Well, when I was younger, and I had this problem, which I don't anymore :)
My mother told me of the things that she used to do as a young lady when she had symptoms of PMS before they called it that. She suggested that I do sit ups, take a warm shower, don't drink anything with caffeine, drink water so that I could use the bathroom to relieve the bloating. Move around to relieve the stress. Try not to ingest too much salt, salt retains fluid. etc.
When I listened, it helped with the cramping and the other symptoms of cramps and the irritation.
To keep from snapping at someone find a stress-free activity, like reading something that makes you happy, or doing some housework that will help to release excess energy. Sometimes taking long, deep cleansing breaths to calm down when feeling a surge of energy that you can't release if your confined to a specific place, like when you're driving, or in a meeting, talking to your boss, or having to deal with your children.
No pun intended on the "closet" line???? :) :) I'm surprised nobody commented on it, yet.
I just stopped that stuff. Started early, don't miss, never want to start again. Good luck to all who still mess with that stuff.
As a Health teacher, a bit of academia. Once you have had your period, you are at a hormone low in your body. Now, in order to concieve a child AND CARRY IT TO TERM, your body must keep dumping in massive amounts of different hormones to make it all work; FSH, etc. About ovulation time, it is beginning to kick in big time. IF you get pregnant (I would have to drain the bank account and leave town, cause it wouldn't be his ;)), then the hormones continue to rise and give many women morning sickness. Just before the egg dies if there wasn't a sperm and egg coupling, the hormones are high enough to trigger awful(for some) physical, emotional, and mental issues. This is PMS.
Women have used this defense at trial, and some have even won. Be careful who is wielding the cleaver in your home around PMS time.
By the way, has anybody noticed that your cycles have become somewhat synced? There is some evidence that women who are close together tend to bond in cycles. True for anyone?

You know, I really don't have issues with PMS. I may get random cramping, but nothing that I can't really deal with.

Most of those suggestions worked for me.

Hey Blue,
Yes I think women who live together tend to cycle together.
I stumbled onto Evening Primrose Oil several months ago and it's made a HUGE difference for me.
I shared an office with a coworker and we found ourselves cycling togther when school was in session. The PMS discussion reminded me of it.
