New here

Hi, I'm new here, can I come out and play? This is the first group like this I've ever joined.

I'm newly separated after 12 1/2 years of marriage. Back when I met my husband I was just starting to admit to myself that I wasn't entirely heterosexual but got all caught up in someone loving me and the fun of that. Fast forward to the present and I'm suddenly 40yo fairly amicably separated from a guy who used to be my best friend but to whom I haven't been attracted for years. I'm sad at the turn of events, mainly because there's a hole where my friend used to be, but I'm also kind of weirded out because finally I'm on the verge of being free and that's scary too.

A friend, as a joke, made me log into match.com. She thinks I'm stuck in monogamous wife mode and that's why none of the guy matches interested me. Actually they all kind of skeeved me out!

I feel like a stupid teenager again. Dating was bad enough the first time around but now ... well I think it will be a long time before I'm ready for any of that, but would it be okay if I hang out here and get used to things? I'm definitely attracted to women and it was so wonderful to read some of the posts here and feel there were finally people around who I get and who might get me.

I always thought by the time I turned 40 I'd finally feel like a grownup. Nope. I totally feel about 12, complete with braces, glasses and acne. Actually not, but that's how it feels.

"Welcome to the board! Yes, come on out to play. We have alot of fun, but we are also here to help when needed.
You will see that we can be very supportive here."

Thanks Laurie! I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time here :)

"Yo, Moriah, welcome. You can come out :) and play, jump in the pool for a swim, and meet the gang at the local establishment, figuratively speaking.
I get those stupid teenager feelings you are talking about. It is weird. I have a straight friend that told me my testosterone was spiking!!!! What????? Just cause I told her I liked women. What will straight people think of next to justify their inability to accept what just is? Not that I am an expert. This whole coming out thing can be a bear sometimes.
Hah! Anyway, be cool and chime in.

Thanks for the welcome, Blue! I suspect that if I were in your shoes when your friend told you about your testosterone spike I'd have laughed hysterically in her face at the sheer stupidity of that remark. *snort*

BTW I have a certain affinity for your handle here - back eons ago when I got online with my first BB, Blue was my handle, too :)

"Seriously, you are not alone and we look forward to getting to know you better. As far as dating goes, you don't have to jump into anything that you're not ready for. Many of us start out by posting here, watching movies, reading books, and finding social opportunities in the community. Give yourself time to heal and definitely hang out with us! We'll show you the ropes!"

Thanks for the warm welcome Ting! I read this yesterday before I left work and had a total "ah HA!" moment. This is the first weekend without my child so I hit Blockbuster on the way home for some serious browsing and came home with a couple DVDs. Had a lovely little movie fest last night and it was great! *chuckle*

I feel so welcomed by this community - thank you everyone!

Oh Blue! Forgive me?

*giving you a hug while quietly filling your pockets with m&m's*

HEY! Tell me missy, is it just a coincidence you're wearing so MANY pockets???

Nony, when you don't carry a purse, you need lots of pockets, so it's really not a coincidence. Just keep filling. **lifting my front pocket on my jeans to test for weight**

Just a couple of more now. Good thing they are candied coated or they would all melt before I finished them. I heard that they were invented during WW!! The Army wanted candy that did goo up the weapons or hands and would stay reasonably intact in warm weather. They went over in the CARE and general issue stuff. Could be true....it's what I tell my students.

MMMMMMM&MMMMMMMM
Thanks Nony

Um ... Nony?? I thought I was the newer gal around here, and yet I have a pocket left that's void of M&Ms from you ... lol I carry a purse but there's always room in the pockets for M&Ms. ;)
