I just wanted to post this because I am soooo excited and happy this evening and I am not getting much support here at home. I feel like a little kid with a shiny new toy, and there isn't anybody to share it with, so I picked you guys. You have given me such good advice and comfort for the anxiety and bad stuff.
This afternoon I got a call that I was selected to work home plate for a district semi-final softball game tomorrow. I have polished up my shoes and belt, pressed my uniform, fixed my hat(that would be my "cover" to our military types lol), and gotten out my Underarmor.
I don't even want to work tomorrow, I just want to umpire. My name has gone into the pool of umpires for the state championship tournament now! It's kind of a big deal in my life.

Thanks for being here for me.

Well, news is not good here... mom might have more cancer and Sheila's dad had a heart attack. We have been busy with the parents. I hate seeing them suffer. I spend the days with mom helping her and keeping her mind off of things.
Then we have 5 dogs, the house, yard, laundry etc. So, I have been very busy in that way.
Mom cannot have the test a PET scan for the suspicious lymphnodes until the other lymphnodes heal or it will read a false positive. So, we have to wait 3 weeks for the test. This waiting of course is driving everyone nuts. I try to keep mom busy. I keep her company and make her lunch every day.
Mom, my sister and I have always been very close. My sister lives in Ohio so she is not here to help. Mom and I have been getting even closer with all of this.
Sheila got a new and better job this week. Better pay, weekends and holidays off. We are happy about that!
Enough for now,
Hugs,
Laurie

Hey Blue,

The place is called Baxter's. It would be a good thing to call information to find out the number. Delaware might be conservative, contrary to popular belief, our GLBT community is alive and well.

I second the Asheville recommendation! I think you would love it, Blue, if you've never been there before!

((((((Laurie))))))

My thoughts are with all of you. I'm sorry your mom got bad news and that Sheila's father isn't doing so well. You are a great source of support, though. Just don't wear yourself out. I'll be thinking of all of you and keeping my fingers crossed that your mom's test comes back ok.

Congrats to Sheila on her new job! I'm sure her new schedule w/ weekends and holidays off will make life easier.

Thinking of you...

It's obvious that you are a shining star! I hope you'll get another opportunity to move forward with the umping! Sorry the guys didn't step up to the plate (pun intended!).

Hey Blue,

I'm throwing in my two cents on the Asheville scene...very "family" friendly town.

Hey Storm!

Glad you're back and settled in Chattanooga! We just HAVE to meet sometime! We got through Chattanooga a lot on our way down to Georgia to see my family. We'll be heading down that way in mid-July if you want to get together.

And, yes, it would be totally fun to have Blue join us here in Knoxville or Asheville sometime!

Oh, God, (((((Laurie))))), I am so sorry. This is way too much stuff to dump on you. I wish I could help in some way, but since I can't be there with you, I will send all positive vibes and prayers your way. The waiting is truly the agonizing part, as there is nothing to do. I think you are a woman of action, and now you probably feel really tied down. That is soooo frustrating. :(

Congrats to Sheila! That is such a good thing to be happening for both of you! A positive ray of sunshine comes down on you. :)

Hugs to all

SB, I know how to spell your name and did not do that intentionally. However, sometimes my fingers just fly over these keys and my proofing may be quick because I have eyes over my shoulders. Sorry. I will try not to let it happen again. I am a stickler for spelling my name right, also. My maiden name was horrific to spell, so I am picky about spelling. Of course, Blue is fairly easy.
