I suppose the most interesting about my stepfather is that he is a real-life cowboy, which is pretty rare these days.
I have a wonderful relationship with my father. He had a difficult childhood but rose above it, did all the right things, and made good choices.
I have to say for me, personally, my dad gave me a picture perfect childhood. He traveled a lot 'cause he was in sales, but on the weekends, the kids were his life. He would spend endless hours teaching me basketball(but he NEVER let me win-a flaw for him) and baseball. I don't know if he wanted a son first, but he got them later. I always felt loved and supported. His mom bought me my first mitt, really pissing off my mom, but he thought it was great. He has a great sense of humor, but he hates to lose.
In high school I figured out that he had been cheating on my mom, probably frequently. They divorced when I was in my 30's. At first I was okay with it, then angry, and now I am back to okay. He lives in Ohio where he married a woman he had been seeing. She died last year. I have never visited my dad and have mixed feelings about doing so.

Well, my dad has past on, but his memories are still alive in my heart and my mind. Even though my dad wasn't as good as I wanted him to be, he was still my dad. When my parents separated it almost killed me, but I finally came to accept the fact that they would never get back to together. But I know one thing for sure he loved my mother, no matter what.
It used to make me smile to see the both of them talking and holding a conversation, but I knew deep in my heart that they would never get remarried. When my step-dad came along, I was (and I'm still)fiercely devoted to my dad. But as time went by, I came to accept the fact that he was there to stay. Even though we didn't get along, I eventually accepted him.
My step-dad is still with my mother to this day, he takes care of her and he makes sure that she's alright. He's still a good man, and he's a good friend. He has been there for my brother and I, and for that I could never turn my back on him. He treats me like one of his own, and I'm content with that.
Thanks,
Sebastian
